Responsibilities
- Install, calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems used in industrial processes.
- Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation including pressure, temperature, level, flow and proximity sensors, transmitters, switches and control devices.
- Perform calibration and verification of process instrumentation and ensure equipment operates within required specifications.
- Assist with the design, modification and updating of instrumentation and control system drawings.
- Develop and maintain instrumentation specifications, loop diagrams, control schematics and related technical documentation.
- Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, SCADA and industrial control systems to identify and resolve instrumentation and process control issues.
- Assist with PLC programming, control system modifications and commissioning activities.
- Inspect instrumentation and control equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards and applicable regulations.
- Develop and maintain testing, calibration and preventative maintenance procedures for instrumentation and control systems.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on instrumentation, control systems and related electrical equipment.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, process control and system performance.
- Work with maintenance and operations personnel to diagnose process and equipment issues.
- Maintain accurate records of calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies and regulatory requirements, ensuring safe, productive and consistent operation and maintenance of equipment and processes.
Qualifications
Qualifications Our ideal candidate will possess:
- A recognized diploma or degree in Instrumentation Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, Controls or a related field, with suitable industrial experience.
- Instrumentation & Control Technician (447A) Certificate of Qualification is preferred.
- Industrial Electrician (442A) Certificate of Qualification is considered an asset.
- At least 5 years of industrial instrumentation and process control experience.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of industrial instrumentation, including pressure, temperature, flow, level and position measurement devices.
- Experience with PLC controls, including Allen-Bradley Logix and/or Siemens S7 programming platforms.
- Experience with HMI, SCADA and industrial control systems.
- Experience with calibration, troubleshooting and commissioning of instrumentation and control systems.
- Experience working with control valves, actuators, transmitters, sensors and other process control equipment.
- Experience with industrial communication networks and control system integration is an asset.
- Experience with full lifecycle projects, including instrumentation selection, installation, programming, testing and commissioning.
- Familiarity with automated systems and industrial process control.
- Ability to function with minimal supervision.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Self-motivated with a proven ability to get the job done.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Team player with good interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office programs.
- Must possess a high level of effective written and verbal communication skills.
