Job Chance – Intermediate/Senior AutoCAD & GIS Technologist
Aspen Land Group Inc. is a small environmental consulting company located in Edmonton, Alberta, that has been providing consulting services to Alberta’s aggregate industry for more than 15 years. We’re seeking an energetic and enthusiastic individual to join our team who can fill the Intermediate and/or Senior Technologist position on a full-time permanent basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare report figures and drawings, surfaces, site plans, cross-sections, profiles, and material volume calculations using AutoCAD and/or GIS software.
- Understand, manage, and maintain plan content, layers, and line types with AutoCAD.
- Complete and/or assist with unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operations and process UAV flight data.
- Complete and/or assist with field surveys, survey data processing and preparation of survey-related drawings and plans.
- Assist with the preparation of applicable technical reports and regulatory applications.
- Assist with the completion of field data.
- Work closely with other environmental specialists, mining engineers and drafting personnel in a team environment to ensure project objectives are being met.
Required Skills
- Diploma or degree in civil engineering technology, geomatics, surveying, GIS or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, with 8+ years preferred for consideration at the Senior Technologist level.
- Previous experience with aggregate, mining, land surveying, civil or environmental consulting companies is considered an asset.
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Fluent skills and competence using Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)
and Adobe Professional.
- Knowledge of GIS software, Global Mapper, and Pix4D is considered an asset.
- Experience with Trimble Connect and TerraFlex is considered an asset.
- Ability to work with and process large geospatial and UAV datasets and incorporate the resulting data into AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings and surfaces.
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in a team environment or independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to work outdoors and travel out of town for short periods as required (max 5 days).
- Willingness to assist with field work such as soil, vegetation, and drilling assessments/sampling.
- Knowledge of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.
- Holding a Drone Pilot Certificate – Advanced Operations is considered a strong asset.
- A positive attitude related to Health and Safety.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license, with a clean driver’s abstract.
