The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced Journeyperson Service Plumber to join our Edmonton, AB team.
This is a service-focused role for a plumber who can confidently diagnose problems, determine the appropriate repair, communicate options clearly to customers and take ownership of each job from start to finish.
This role will involve a mix of residential and commercial service work, including plumbing systems as well as specialized mechanical systems such as hydronic heating, boilers, glycol systems and geothermal systems. Experience servicing wineries and other specialized commercial facilities would be a strong asset.
You'll work independently in customers' homes and commercial facilities while being supported by Total's service coordination, operations and leadership teams.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose, service and repair residential and commercial plumbing systems
- Troubleshoot and service hydronic heating, boiler, glycol and geothermal systems
- Perform plumbing service and preventative maintenance for wineries and other commercial facilities
- Identify the cause of system issues and determine appropriate repair solutions
- Explain findings,
repair options and recommendations clearly to customers
- Prepare accurate job notes, estimates, invoices and material lists
- Identify additional repairs and preventative maintenance opportunities
- Install, service, repair and maintain applicable plumbing and mechanical systems
- Read and interpret applicable drawings, specifications, manuals and work orders
- Complete work in accordance with applicable codes, regulations and Total standards
- Maintain accurate job documentation and required paperwork
- Communicate job progress, deficiencies, additional work and concerns
- Coordinate with dispatch, customers, supervisors, other trades and Total's service team as applicable
- Maintain company tools, equipment, service vehicles and work areas
- Follow company safety policies and procedures
- Participate in the on-call rotation as required
- Represent Total professionally with customers, contractors and other trades
- Support and contribute to the overall success of the team
What We're Looking For
- Journeyperson Plumber certification
- Valid Alberta driver's licence with a clean driving record
- Proven plumbing service and troubleshooting experience
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Experience working independently in customers' homes and commercial facilities
- Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes, regulations and safe work practices
- Strong customer-service and professional communication skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned service calls
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Organized and accountable for assigned work
- Comfortable using mobile applications for job documentation
- Commitment to safe work practices
- Willingness to continue learning and developing technical skills
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
Experience That Would Be an Asset
Experience with any of the following is considered an asset:
- Boilers and hydronic heating systems
- Glycol systems
- Geothermal systems
- Wineries and specialized commercial facilities
- Commercial plumbing and mechanical systems
- Preventative maintenance and service programs
- Gas systems and gas certification
- Mobile service and job documentation applications

Schedule & Work Environment
Schedule: Full-Time
Hours: Regular service hours with overtime opportunities as required
On-Call Rotation: Participation required as scheduled
Travel: Local travel throughout the Edmonton service area and surrounding communities as required
Company Vehicle: Company service vehicle and fuel card provided
Primary Work Area: Edmonton, AB and surrounding service area
This is a field-based trade position. Work environments may include residential homes, commercial buildings, mechanical rooms, wineries, customer facilities and outdoor environments depending on the service call.
Compensation is determined based on certification, relevant service experience, technical capability and the requirements of the position.
