Junior Accountant
Location: Vaughan, Ontario
Reports To: Controller
$60,000–$75,000 CAD, plus health and dental benefits and annual bonus
Our client is a leading Canadian designer and manufacturer of customizable office furniture and commercial interior products. Based in Concord, Ontario, they work with dealers, architects, designers, and customers across Canada and the United States to create adaptable, durable, and thoughtfully designed workspaces.
About the role
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting activities that keep a growing manufacturing business operating accurately and efficiently.
Reporting to the Controller, you will assist with accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, month-end activities, supporting schedules, inventory-related transactions, and financial administration. You will gain practical experience in a manufacturing workplace, learn the company’s finance and operating systems, and build a strong foundation for a career in accounting.
Responsibilities
- Support the processing, review, and filing of vendor invoices, expense reports, payment documentation, and purchase-related records.
- Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, customer invoicing, cash application, and routine account follow-up.
- Prepare assigned account reconciliations and help investigate routine discrepancies.
- Support month-end close activities, including journal-entry preparation, accrual support, prepaids, and maintenance of supporting schedules.
- Maintain accurate financial and operational records in Seridex and related internal systems.
- Assist with inventory, purchasing, receiving, and cost-tracking documentation as required.
- Compile data and prepare recurring Excel reports for the finance team.
- Help maintain master data, documentation, files, and finance-process checklists.
- Work with purchasing, operations, warehouse, customer service, and sales teams to resolve transaction and documentation issues.
- Assist with audit, tax, reporting, and other ad hoc finance projects.
Education and Experience
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business, or a related field.
- Approximately 1–3 years of experience in an accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, accounting clerk, or finance administration role.
- Foundational knowledge of accounting principles and familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and month-end processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, sorting/filtering, PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data validation.
- Experience using accounting software or an ERP system; experience in manufacturing, distribution, inventory, or a project-based environment is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, follow-through, and commitment to accuracy.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with non-finance colleagues.
- Interest in growing within accounting and operational finance; CPA PREP or PEP progress is an asset but not required.
