Junior Fire Alarm Technician

The Junior Fire Alarm Technician will be part of a dedicated team that specializes in the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and servicing of Fire Alarm and Life Safety Systems.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or build their career in the fire alarm industry. Previous industry experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right person who demonstrates reliability, a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a genuine willingness to learn.
The Junior Fire Alarm Technician will work alongside experienced and senior technicians, gaining hands-on experience and developing the technical skills required to become a successful Fire Alarm Technician.
As a Junior Fire Alarm Technician, you will:
- Assist senior technicians with the inspection, testing, maintenance, installation, and servicing of fire alarm systems and related life safety equipment
- Learn to perform services in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and manufacturer requirements
- Assist with diagnosing and troubleshooting fire alarm system issues under the direction of senior technicians
- Assist with the installation and replacement of fire alarm devices, equipment, wiring, and related components
- Learn to read and understand drawings, blueprints, installation guides, and technical documentation
- Complete required documentation, inspection forms, service reports, and other records accurately
- Follow direction and guidance from senior technicians while developing your technical knowledge and skills
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures
- Communicate professionally with customers, building personnel, contractors, and team members
- Work at various commercial buildings and construction sites throughout the GTHA
- Travel to various job sites as required
- Develop the knowledge and skills necessary to work independently once properly trained
- Participate in ongoing training and learning opportunities to further develop within the fire alarm industry
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the fire alarm industry is preferred, but not required
- Fire Alarm Technician program or related coursework is an asset
- No field experience is required; we are open to candidates looking to start their career in the fire alarm industry
- Must be willing and able to work Ignis hours, generally 6:00 AM–4:00 PM
- Must have a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license, with the ability to travel to various job sites throughout the GTHA
- Punctual, reliable, and dependable
- Comfortable working in commercial buildings and on construction sites
- Good communication and customer-service skills
- Willing to learn and take direction from senior technicians
- Physically able to perform the requirements of the position, including working from ladders and lifts and carrying equipment and materials
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic are important
- Must be comfortable working independently once trained, while also being part of a team
- First Aid and Working at Heights certification is an asset; training may be provided
- Must be willing to learn and develop an understanding of applicable Fire Code, Building Code, ULC, NFPA, and other relevant standards and requirements
