Role: Lead Java Engineer / Staff Software Engineer

Location: Downtown Toronto, ON – Minimum 3 days onsite

Role Summary

We are seeking a strong Lead/Staff Java Engineer with deep backend engineering, architecture, and system design expertise. The candidate will be hands-on with implementation while contributing significantly to technical architecture and platform development.

Key Requirements

- Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot .
- Strong experience designing and developing REST APIs and microservices.
- Excellent system design and architecture capabilities.
- Proven experience delivering production-grade distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with greenfield/0-to-1 development .
- Ability to select appropriate frameworks, technologies, and architectural patterns for new platforms.
- Robust hands-on coding and implementation skills.




- Experience with AWS cloud services.
- Experience with event-driven and distributed architectures.
- Familiarity with edge computing/CDN technologies is highly desirable.
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and LLM-based coding workflows.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, observability, security, and scalable platform engineering.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence technical decisions.
- Must be comfortable asking questions, challenging assumptions, and clarifying requirements rather than simply accepting them.
