Description

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. Required Qualifications

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active, or eligible for,



registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications

Previous operating room experience including scrub and circulating functions in a Surgical Suite setting is required. Perioperative course is required or a minimum of 2 years current experience in the scrub/circulatory role within a Surgical Suite. Current experience is defined as working in a OR setting within the past 2 years.

The ability to cope and effectively perform in stressful and/or emergency situations is essential. The incumbent must possess leadership and decision-making ability and be able to exercise sound judgement and use initiative. Good interpersonal and public relations skills as well as positive communication skills, oral and written are essential.

Good organization and coordination skills required. The position is very physically demanding. Must be able to lift, pull, and push more than 25 lbs. There is a lot of above shoulder requirement for prepping and positioning of patients.

Preferred Qualifications

Recent peri-operative nursing experience with General Surgery. Orthopedics and OB /GYN is an asset.
