Farm Labourer – Livestock & Crop Operations
Claassen Farms JV, operated by Prairie Spud Farms Ltd., is hiring 3 full-time Farm Labourers near Vauxhall, Alberta.
Wage: $23.80–$27.00/hour, based on experience
Hours: 40–60 hours per week
Positions: 3 full-time
Location: Vauxhall, Alberta
Housing: Available
Duties include feeding, handling and caring for livestock; cleaning and maintaining barns, pens and livestock areas; assisting with calving and general animal health and welfare; operating and maintaining farm equipment; and assisting with crop and general farm operations as required.
Applicants must have at least 1 year of livestock experience, be reliable, physically capable of performing farm work, and willing to work flexible hours, including weekends when required.

Responsibilities
- Assist with daily livestock care routines including feeding, watering, and cleaning animal enclosures to promote animal well-being.
- Perform heavy lifting tasks such as moving feed bags, equipment, and livestock as needed to support farm operations.
- Operate and maintain farm machinery safely, including tractors, feed mixers, and other mechanical equipment.
- Monitor livestock health and behavior, reporting any signs of illness or distress to senior staff promptly.
- Support pasture management activities such as fencing repairs and pasture rotation to optimize grazing conditions.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, animal pens, and equipment to ensure a safe and hygienic setting.
- Follow all safety protocols diligently while handling livestock and operating machinery to prevent accidents or injuries.
Qualifications
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and manual labor throughout the workday.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to operate and troubleshoot farm machinery effectively.
- Prior experience working on a farm or with livestock is advantageous but not mandatory; training will be provided.
- Strong work ethic with a proactive attitude toward teamwork and safety compliance.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and adapt quickly to changing farm needs.
