This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your management expertise and technical skills to maintain a high-performing, safe, and productive environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Team Leadership & Workflow

- Support and direct the Coordinator on scheduling, dispatching, and road-call/breakdown response.

2. Repairs, Quality & Compliance

- Plan and schedule preventive maintenance and repairs using MIR planning (DataDis), procuring parts as needed.
- Review, verify, and close work orders, ensuring accuracy of labor, parts, and notes.
- Oversee diagnostics on complex repairs and perform road tests as necessary.
- Inspect outside/vendor repairs to confirm work meets Company safety, compliance, and regulatory standards.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with Company policy and federal/provincial regulations.

3. Vendor, Inventory & Cost Management

- Manage, negotiate,

and approve vendor repairs; maintain a network of reliable maintenance suppliers.
- Oversee parts inventory to ensure adequate, accurate stock levels and cost control.
- Review and approve expenses within approval authority; escalate larger repairs or costs to the GTL General Manager.
- Monitor and help improve maintenance costs, repair processes, and shop productivity.

4. Administration & Communication

- Maintain accurate records of preventive and corrective maintenance in MIR (DataDis), the Company's maintenance system.
- Adhering to corporate values and policies at all times
- Manage team administrative matters, including payroll input and employee records.
- Communicate with dispatch, operations, and drivers on equipment availability and repair timelines.
- Maintain open communication with other departments and leadership to support fluid operations.
- Ensure the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the shop through regular inspections.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills

- Solid working knowledge of heavy-duty truck and/or trailer systems: engine, emissions, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical.
- Proven ability, or clear potential, to supervise, motivate, and coach a team that may include a Coordinator and a variable number of Truck and Trailer Technicians.
- Detail-oriented, with strong planning skills to manage work orders, priorities, and deadlines.
- Experience managing parts inventory and controlling maintenance costs, an asset.
- Comfortable with MIR (DataDis)

or similar fleet maintenance software, and Microsoft Office.
- Clear, professional communicator with technicians, drivers, dispatch, and management.
- Sound judgment and problem-solving skills; able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Committed to safety, compliance, and a well-organized shop environment.

Requirements

- High school diploma or GED; college diploma in Heavy Duty Equipment Repair an asset.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Certificate of Qualification (310T) or Red Seal – Heavy Duty Equipment Technician an asset; willing to obtain if not already held.
