Position Summary The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading day-to-day maintenance work for fixed plant and site equipment at TANCO, including repairs, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, and work coordination. This role supports reliable operation of the mill, chemical plant, surface infrastructure, mine support systems, and related equipment by ensuring maintenance work is completed safety, to standard, properly documented, and followed up on.

This is a front-line leadership role that requires strong field presence, practical industrial maintenance knowledge, good judgment, and the ability to lead Industrial Mechanics through changing priorities while maintaining safety, quality, and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

Safety and Leadership

- Lead Industrial Mechanics with clear expectations around safe work, housekeeping, work quality, and proper equipment care.
- Ensure employees follow site safety requirements, permits, procedures, lockout, confined space, working at heights, and manufacturer specifications.
- Stop work when conditions are unsafe or unclear, and support incident investigations, hazard reporting, inspections, and corrective actions.
- Build a culture where employees take ownership for safety, equipment reliability, and the quality of their work.

Maintenance Execution

- Supervise daily maintenance activities for fixed plant, surface, and site equipment, assigning work based on priority, skill, safety requirements, equipment availability, and operational needs.
- Ensure repairs, inspections, servicing, and preventative maintenance are completed properly and on time.
- Support troubleshooting, root cause identification, and follow-up on repeat failures, poor-quality repairs, and incomplete work.




- Coordinate with mill operations, chemical plant operations, mine operations, and other departments to reduce downtime and improve equipment availability.

Planning, Scheduling, and Work Control

- Work with maintenance planning, operations, purchasing, and warehouse personnel to ensure work is ready to execute.
- Review work orders for scope, parts, labour, tooling, safety requirements, and priority.
- Provide input into maintenance schedules, shutdown planning, backlog priorities, service intervals, and resource needs.
- Ensure work orders, time entries, inspection records, service documentation, and required records are completed properly.

People Leadership

- Provide daily direction, coaching, and support to Industrial Mechanics, apprentices, trainees, labourers and contractors.
- Set expectations for attendance, productivity, communication, safe execution, and quality of work.
- Address performance, conduct, and accountability issues early and directly.

Qualifications

- Grade 12 diploma required
- Red Seal Industrial Mechanic/Millwright certification, or equivalent industrial maintenance experience.
- Experience supervising, leading, or mentoring Industrial Mechanics in a mining, manufacturing, processing, or heavy industrial environment.
- Robust understanding of safe work practices, lockout, permits, confined space, working at heights, inspections, and fixed plant maintenance execution.




- Practical knowledge of pumps, conveyors, crushers, screens, gearboxes, bearings, alignment, hydraulics, pneumatics, piping, valves, hoists, and preventative maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, manuals, drawings, procedures, service information, and equipment documentation.

Location of Work: Bernic Lake, MB Schedule: Full-time, Day Shift, 40 hrs per week, Monday-Thursday
