Career Opportunity

Our Human Rights & Investigations Department is seeking a Manager, Human Rights to join their team!

What You Will Do?

Reporting to the Director, Human Rights and Investigations, you will provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to a team of Human Rights Investigators-Advisors including mentorship and evaluating their performance. The team’s mandate is to support TTC management, staff, unionized employees, and customers on a wide variety of human rights, accommodation, accessibility, and workplace violence related issues including allegations of misconduct. As Manager, Human Rights, you may be required to investigate, analyze, and resolve the more complex complaints, mediations, and applications regarding alleged contraventions and/or violations of human rights-related policies, regulations, acts, and other legislation.

You will also contribute to the development and delivery of various education/training programs.

- You will plan, coordinate, supervise, and direct work or processes within area of responsibility.
- Provide education through training programs or learning sessions to educate clients or staff.
- Provide support and assistance to internal and/or external parties with regard to area of responsibility.
- You will identify, develop, and implement dispute resolution strategies in response to mediations, arbitrations, and/or other issues.
- Provide information and/or advice with regard to area of expertise and responsibility.
- Record and document key information within area of responsibility (workforce reports, analyses, statistics, etc.) and provide to related parties or store appropriately.
- As Manager, Human Rights you will develop standards for and measure performance of staff as required for the role.
- Promotes a respectful work and service environment that supports diversity, inclusion,



and is free from harassment and discrimination. Provides leadership in the development and implementation of inclusive and accessible policies, programs and/or services for employees and customers in accordance with TTC’s commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC’s policies.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

- Your educational background including completion of a post-secondary education in a related field (e.g. Diversity and Human Rights, Law, Labour Relations, Public Policy and Administration, Social Work, Social Studies, etc.), combined with directly related work experience is integral and will contribute to the success in this role.
- Thorough knowledge of the Code, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario’s procedures, OHSA, the AODA and other relevant legislation combined with a strong knowledge of equity principles and jurisprudence related to human rights, diversity and inclusion principles is required.
- Your application will also demonstrate knowledge, involvement and familiarity with the history of and barriers faced by racialized, Indigenous and Black communities due to racism and anti-Black racism, issues of equity, and systemic change.
- Extensive interviewing, investigative and research skills and experience, particularly in workplace conduct investigations is required.
- Strong conflict resolution/mediation skills and experience.
- Experience leading and managing a team of employees is required.
- Your ability to manage conflict and conduct mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution is required.
