Manual Machinist / Mechanical Assembler

Position: Full-Time Manual Machinist / Mechanic

Rotech Pumps is looking for an experienced and dependable Manual Machinist / Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating conventional machine shop equipment and be comfortable working from engineering drawings to manufacture, repair, modify, and assemble mechanical components.

Responsibilities

- Operate manual lathes for turning, facing, boring, threading, and other machining operations.
- Operate manual milling machines.
- Operate drill presses and drilling machines.
- Read and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, dimensions, tolerances, and machining instructions.
- Accurately measure machined components using:
- Vernier and digital calipers
- Micrometers
- Depth gauges and other measuring instruments
- Machine and modify pump components, shafts, sleeves, bushings, brackets, and other mechanical parts.
- Perform fitting, grinding, drilling, tapping, and general machine-shop work.
- Inspect completed work to ensure parts meet required dimensions and tolerances.
- Assist with mechanical assembly and disassembly of pumps and rotating equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical fit-up and assembly issues.
- Maintain machines, tools, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Follow company safety procedures and quality requirements.

Required Qualifications
- Previous experience working as a manual machinist, toolroom machinist, mechanic, or similar position.
- Strong experience operating a manual lathe.




- Experience operating manual milling and drilling machines.
- Ability to independently read blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Positive understanding of tolerances, fits, dimensions, and machining practices.
- Ability to confidently use calipers, micrometers, and precision measuring tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Additional Skills – Considered an Asset
- MIG, TIG, or stick welding experience.
- Mechanical assembly experience.
- Pump assembly or repair experience.
- Experience working with shafts, bearings, mechanical seals, couplings, and rotating equipment.
- Experience repairing or modifying existing components.
- Previous experience in a pump, industrial equipment, manufacturing, or machine-shop environment.

What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who is hands-on, mechanically inclined, accurate, and takes pride in their workmanship. The successful candidate should be comfortable taking a drawing or existing component, determining the required machining or repair work, and completing the job safely and accurately.

Job Type: Full-Time

Compensation: Competitive and based on experience.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
