Context of the project: There is a dedicated End-of-Line (EOL) Testing department in Vaughan, ON. The team develops automated testing systems that are integrated directly into assembly lines to validate the functionality and performance of finished products before shipment, ensuring manufacturing issues are detected and addressed immediately.

Day to day activities:

- Perform engineering calculations related to strength of materials, speed, horsepower, temperature, pressure, and force to support machine and tool design.
- Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine dimensions, material properties, hardness, and other technical requirements for equipment, processes, and product development.
- Evaluate the feasibility of using one or multiple machines to perform sequential manufacturing operations efficiently.




- Create detailed working drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs) for equipment, sub-assemblies, and products using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Review and analyze designs and systems to ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations, including OSHA, CE, and customer-specific requirements.
- Verify drawing accuracy, material selection, machining methods, surface finishes, hardness specifications, and overall manufacturability.

Candidate requirements

Must-haves:

- 5+ years of experience in automation equipment/machine design
- Experience designing with pneumatic cylinders, servo motors, gearboxes, part-presence sensors, and safety systems
- Proficiency in 3D CAD design using SolidWorks and/or CATIA
- GD&T; (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Experience working with PLM systems and engineering change processes
- Nice to have: Experience designing EOL Tester (End Of Line Tester)
- Tools / software / methodology / certification: Solidworks, PLM
- Soft skills: Excellent technical communication
- Seniority level: 5+ years

In accordance with our compensation practices, ALTEN is providing the salary range associated with this opportunity. Final compensation will be determined after considering several factors, including professional experience, skill set, educational background, certifications, and geographic market conditions. The current target salary range for this role is $100,000 – $105,000 per year.
