About the Position

RNJet Inc. is looking for a skilled Part-Time Mechanical Designer to support the development of our industrial ink supply systems and printing equipment.

The successful candidate will work closely with our engineering team to design and improve sheet metal components, machined parts, brackets, enclosures, mounting assemblies, and other mechanical components used in RNJet ink supply systems.

This position is ideal for someone who is highly proficient in SolidWorks, understands practical manufacturing methods, and can take a design from concept through to complete manufacturing documentation.

Key Responsibilities

- Design sheet metal parts, enclosures, brackets, frames, and assemblies using SolidWorks
- Design machined components suitable for CNC milling, turning, and other machining processes
- Develop mechanical components for RNJet ink supply systems
- Create accurate 3D models and assemblies
- Prepare detailed 2D manufacturing drawings
- Create sheet metal flat patterns and production-ready drawings
- Apply appropriate dimensions, tolerances, fits, threads, and manufacturing notes
- Prepare BOMs (Bill of Materials) and technical documentation
- Select practical materials, hardware, fasteners, fittings, and mechanical components
- Review existing designs and recommend improvements for manufacturability, reliability, assembly, and cost




- Modify existing SolidWorks models and drawings when design changes are required
- Maintain organized engineering files, revisions, drawings, and supporting documentation
- Work with our engineering and production teams to resolve manufacturing and assembly issues

Requirements
- Expert-level SolidWorks skills are required
- Strong experience with sheet metal design
- Experience designing machined/CNC parts
- Robust understanding of mechanical drawings, tolerances, fits, threads, and GD&T; principles
- Understanding of practical manufacturing and assembly methods
- Ability to create complete, professional manufacturing documentation
- Ability to work independently and turn concepts or sketches into manufacturable designs
- Good organizational and communication skills
- Experience with industrial machinery, fluid/ink systems, pumps, tanks, tubing, fittings, or printing equipment is an asset

Compensation & Schedule This is a part-time position with flexible hours based on project requirements.

Pay Range: C$20–C$25 per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated SolidWorks and mechanical design capabilities.

Candidates should be prepared to provide examples of previous SolidWorks sheet metal and machined-part designs as part of the selection process.n

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16.0 per week
