Overview
Established Geophysical Surveying company looking for an experienced Mechanical Technician to perform manual tasks and use Solidworks (3D drafting) to draw new or updated physical parts. Order custom parts or inventory from suppliers. Perform shipping and receiving tasks such as building skids and organizing shipments online or by phone.
Responsibilities
- Use hand and power tools to prepare parts for fibre-optic termination
- Terminate fibre-optic connectors in housing and polish fibre-optic surface
- Troubleshoot issues with fibre-optic cables and perform required repairs
- Test cables using winch setup and apply depths markers to cable
- Use Solidworks 3D drafting to draw new or update models
- Order custom parts or inventory from local or international suppliers
- Build skids of equipment to be shipped for field work across Canada
- Submit shipping orders either online or by phone
- Other manual and computer based tasks as required
Requirements
- Must be mechanically inclined and familiar with use of common hand and power tools
- Must have strong manual dexterity for delicate work with fibre-optic connectors
- Must have strong communication and team work abilities
- Must have experience using 3D drafting software and willing to learn Solidworks
- Experience with shipping would be an asset
- Solid computer skills and ability to learn new computer based tasks
This opening is required to be filled by the end of September, successful candidate would preferably start immediately. Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
