About the OpportunityWe’re looking for a detail-oriented Meter Technician (full time) who takes pride in safety and precision. In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring accurate energy measurement for thousands of customers by installing, testing, and repairing advanced metering systems. Reporting to the Operations Supervisor – Technical Services, you’ll work hands-on with cutting-edge equipment and contribute to reliable service across Greater Sudbury.
The successful candidate will:
· Install, remove, and verify polyphase and single-phase meters
· Perform meter calibrations, repairs, and adjustments
· Conduct power factor analysis and cross-reading verification
· Respond to customer metering layout requests
· Complete documentation and terminal input as required
· Check customer’s voltage and install current and voltage recorders as required
· Assist with load surveys which include removal of tapes, services, install or replace faulty recorders
· Investigate diversion of power
· Carry out transformer checks
Seeking the following qualifications:
· Minimum 2 years at college level in electrical or instrumentation
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Some knowledge and understanding of meter methods of communication such as: cellular / Fibre/TCP IP / RS232 and Radio
· Some understanding of Utility’s revenue metering system
· Valid class G driver’s license as job duties require frequent field work
· Team oriented with a positive attitude
