Position Summary
Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and install mechanical equipment and machinery used throughout the manufacturing operation. Work closely with production staff to minimize equipment downtime and ensure safe, reliable and efficient operations.
Typical Duties
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production and foundry equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Maintain and repair die-casting machines, trim presses, furnaces, conveyors, grinders, lathes, milling machines and other production equipment.
- Diagnose equipment breakdowns and complete emergency repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Install, align, dismantle and rebuild industrial machinery and mechanical components.
- Replace and repair bearings, belts, chains, gears, motors, pumps, valves and other mechanical components.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, blueprints and schematics.
- Perform welding, fabrication and machining as required for equipment repairs and modifications.
- Conduct regular equipment inspections and identify potential maintenance issues before failures occur.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs and preventative-maintenance work.
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures, PPE requirements and all workplace health and safety regulations.
- Participate in equipment upgrades, process improvements and other maintenance projects.
- Maintain a clean, organized and protected maintenance area.
- Perform other maintenance duties as assigned.
Education
Post Secondary Education
Skills/Qualifications
Experience Required
- 433A Industrial Millwright certification
- Previous experience in manufacturing, foundry, die-casting or industrial environment would be valuable.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics.
- Experience with industrial machinery installation and alignment.
- Strong understanding of preventative maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production/maintenance team.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
