Role Description The Surveyor role is a full time, on-site position based in Fort McMurray, AB. The Surveyor will perform field surveys to support earthworks, utilities, and industrial construction projects, including setting out and verifying grades, alignments, and boundaries. Day-to-day responsibilities include operating survey instruments, collecting and validating field data, preparing survey sketches and reports, and coordinating survey information with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors.

The Surveyor & Draftperson will assist in maintaining accurate records, checking as-built conditions, and supporting quality assurance, safety,



and compliance with project specifications. This role requires regular collaboration with site teams, adherence to safety procedures, and flexibility to work in varying weather and site conditions.

Qualifications

- Strong proficiency with surveying instruments and technologies (e.g., total stations, GPS/GNSS, levels, data collectors) and related software.
- Knowledge of construction surveying practices, including layout for earthworks, utilities, and structural elements, and familiarity with plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Competence in data collection, analysis, and documentation, including field notes, survey reports, and as-built records.
- Solid understanding of safety regulations and site safety practices, with commitment to working safely in heavy civil and industrial environments.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with project managers, engineers, supervisors, and field crews.
- Surveyor - Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions, maintain attention to detail, and manage multiple priorities on active construction sites.
- Relevant post-secondary education in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience as a Surveyor or Draftperson in heavy civil, industrial, or energy-related projects is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the Fort McMurray region as required.
