As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will evaluate borrower information, analyze financial data, and determine loan eligibility with confidence and clarity.
Duties
- Review mortgage applications thoroughly by collecting and verifying all necessary borrower information, including income, assets, liabilities, and credit history.
- Conduct comprehensive risk analysis to assess the likelihood of loan repayment and identify potential red flags or discrepancies.
- Apply underwriting guidelines and policies consistently to make informed lending decisions that balance customer needs with risk management.
- Negotiate terms with applicants when appropriate, providing clear explanations of conditions or required documentation to facilitate smooth approval processes.
- Collaborate with loan officers and other team members to gather additional data or clarification needed for accurate evaluations.
- Maintain detailed records of all underwriting decisions, supporting documentation, and correspondence for audit purposes.
- Stay updated on industry regulations, compliance standards, and best practices within the financial services sector to ensure adherence.
