NPI Trades, Advisor Employee Type: Contract
Reports To: Lead, NPI
Location: Christina Lake North, Alberta
Shift: 7 days on, 7 days off
About the Role Reporting to the Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI) Lead, the NPI Trades Advisor is responsible for overseeing NPI maintenance contractors supporting all non-process buildings, camp facilities, and general infrastructure. This position provides field leadership, contractor coordination, safety oversight, and operational support to ensure maintenance activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with business priorities.
Your Day-to-Day
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety by promoting a positive safety culture, conducting daily field audits, and ensuring personnel have the support required to execute work safely.
- Coordinate and oversee contractor execution of NPI maintenance activities, including building operations, electrical systems, network communications, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, site janitorial services, and water and wastewater operations.
- Prioritize, coordinate, and reprioritize contractor work activities based on operational requirements, emergent issues, and changing site priorities to ensure efficient execution of work scopes.
- Facilitate toolbox talks and contractor/vendor coordination meetings while fostering effective communication and a positive work environment.
- Interface with departments and contractors to coordinate site-wide services, temporary facilities, general labour requirements, and small project execution.
- Ensure contractor activities are completed safely, productively, and in compliance with policies, procedures, standards, and applicable legislative requirements.
- Collaborate with Leads, Coordinators, and Planners to support planning, scheduling, permitting,
and execution activities, ensuring work orders, preventive maintenance, and job plans are completed in accordance with established requirements, timelines, and safety, environmental, and operational expectations.
- Utilize SAP and other work management systems to support maintenance execution, contractor management, LEM reviews, and invoice approvals.
- Report and investigate incidents, identify root causes, and develop corrective and preventive actions in accordance with company protocols.
- Participate in budget development, cost tracking, cost analysis, and contractor performance management to support operational objectives.
Experience and Certifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Journeyperson certification in a building trade discipline is required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance and construction environments, including a minimum of 3 years providing field leadership, contractor oversight, or work coordination.
- Project management experience is considered an asset.
- Strong interpersonal, networking, collaboration, facilitation, and communication skills, with the ability to achieve alignment across multidisciplinary work groups at all organizational levels.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and project/time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
- Robust computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS); SAP experience is considered an asset.
- Self-starter with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working with diverse communities, stakeholders, and work groups is considered an asset.
