The Nursery Horticulture Support role is a customer-facing and operations-focused position supporting daily nursery functions. This role plays a key part in providing an exceptional customer experience while supporting plant health, organization, and smooth nursery operations.

Customer Service Responsibilities

- Greet all customers warmly and professionally upon arrival
- Complete customer sales accurately at the till
- Respond to customer questions and concerns using Down to Earth customer service protocols
- Assist customers with loading plants, soil, and other products as needed
- Maintain and expand the customer database through email collection
- Monitor store phone messages three times daily and record messages clearly using a message pad

Nursery & Horticulture Support Responsibilities

- Use and operate tools and equipment related to nursery and horticultural practices
- Participate in morning huddles, weekly meetings, and safety meetings
- Complete opening and closing procedures according to DTE standards
- Assist with basic IT troubleshooting (POS, tablets, printers) following DTE protocols
- Receive incoming orders, tag, price, and properly place nursery stock as directed
- Follow daily task lists (located in the greenhouse), initial completed tasks in Monday.com using a tablet




- Conduct daily visual inspections of trees, shrubs, and plants and report issues to the Plant Health team
- Pot up plant material and assist with greenhouse production following DTE protocols
- Manage the plant hospital area according to established procedures
- Monitor nursery stock for weeds and assign weeding tasks as appropriate
- Assist horticulture staff during busy periods by collecting plants and trees using the gator
- Check fuel levels in the gator weekly and report status in Monday.com

Store Operations & Maintenance

- Ensure the till always maintains appropriate change and reserve float
- Print and manage plant tags, including operation and maintenance of tag printers
- Maintain cleanliness of the retail space throughout the day
- Clean and restock the staff washroom daily and monitor cleanliness during shifts

Skilled Standards & Expectations

- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and health & safety regulations
- Wear appropriate PPE and follow safe work practices at all times
- Demonstrate initiative, accountability, and attention to detail
- Participate in self-directed learning to expand horticultural knowledge, customer service skills, and product familiarity

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $25.00-$27.00 per hour

Experience

- Landscape maintenance: 1 year (required)
- Gardening: 1 year (required)

Licence/Certification:
- Driving Licence (required)
