Overview

TCSN is seeking a compassionate and experienced Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide assessment, consultation, and individualized intervention for children and young adults with autism and developmental disabilities.

The Occupational Therapist will focus on developing fine motor skills, sensory regulation, self-care, daily living skills, school-readiness skills, and greater independence.

The OT will work collaboratively with families, our ABA team, Instructor Therapists, Educational Assistants, and other professionals to support each learner's individual needs.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct occupational therapy assessments within the clinician's scope of practice.
- Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans, goals, and recommendations.
- Provide occupational therapy intervention based on each client's functional needs and goals.
- Support fine and gross motor skill development.
- Support sensory processing, sensory regulation, and self-regulation.
- Develop fine motor, visual-motor, handwriting, pencil, and scissor skills.
- Support self-care and activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, buttoning, zippers, shoelaces, grooming, feeding, and toileting as appropriate.
- Support play skills, school participation, classroom readiness, and functional independence.
- Develop practical strategies to increase independence at home, at the centre, at school, and in the community.
- Provide education, strategies, recommendations, and home programs to parents and caregivers as appropriate.
- Recommend adaptive equipment, assistive devices, positioning strategies, sensory supports,



or environmental modifications when appropriate.
- Communicate and collaborate with other members of the TCSN multidisciplinary team to support coordinated care.
- Provide appropriate direction and supervision to Occupational Therapist Assistants (OTAs), where applicable and within the OT's professional responsibilities and scope of practice.
- Monitor client progress and adjust intervention plans and recommendations as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and qualified clinical documentation.

Qualifications
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO).
- Degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized program.
- Experience working with pediatric populations.
- Experience supporting children with autism spectrum disorder, developmental differences, sensory regulation needs, and/or motor and functional challenges is considered an asset.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with children, families, caregivers, and other professionals.
- Experience developing practical strategies to promote functional independence.
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team is an asset.

Experience with school-based services, feeding, assistive equipment, developmental disabilities, neurological conditions, or adult occupational therapy is considered an asset. Pay: $65.00-$95.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10.0 – 16.0 per week

Licence/Certification

- Registered with the COTO. (preferred)
