Operational Risk Analyst Intern / Co-op – Winter 2027

366 Adelaide Street West, Toronto, Ontario The Role The Operational Risk Analyst Intern / Co-op – Winter 2027 student supports Albourne’s Operational Due Diligence (ODD) team, with a primary focus on monitoring alternative investment funds and their managers for changes in operational risk profiles and updating ODD reports to reflect those changes. The role also involves reviewing fund documentation, financial statements, and service provider information, preparing client deliverables, maintaining internal databases, supporting data analysis, and contributing to ad hoc projects, including initiatives involving AI tools.

Albourne gives undergraduate students exposure to the alternative investment industry through technical training and hands on experience alongside industry specialists. This is a temporary, full-time opportunity (37.5 hours per week) and is open to both students participating in an accredited co-op program and those seeking an internship independently. The Winter 2027 term runs from 11 January to 30 April 2027.

Responsibilities





As an Operational Risk Analyst Intern / Co-op student you will help:

- Monitor assigned funds on an ongoing basis and update written reports to reflect changes in the operational risks of those funds.
- Review and interpret alternative investment fund financial statements, offering documents, and other fund literature to create investment recommendations for clients.
- Liaise with fund service providers to ensure timely receipt of information on the funds. Conduct reference checks with these service providers for completion of the relevant reports.
- Prepare, review, and deliver client deliverables on a timely and accurate basis.
- Ensure information within internal databases is kept up to date and current.
- Identify and analyze trends in data systematically, leveraging data mining techniques to provide actionable insights.
- Perform other ad hoc projects from time to time upon request, including projects utilizing AI tools or advanced analytics

Desired Qualifications

- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in business, commerce, finance, accounting, economics, or a related discipline, with an expected graduation date of Spring 2027 or later
- Demonstrated interest in capital markets, alternative investments, or investment consulting through relevant coursework, internships, extracurricular activities, or independent study; prior experience in a relevant internship or co-op role is considered an asset
- Familiarity with alternative fund strategies/structures and U.S. GAAP accounting is considered an asset
- Exposure to data analytics, data mining, or data science methodologies is considered an asset, as is experience using tools such as VBA, Python, and Power BI
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams) is required; experience using AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot is a solid asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English




- Working towards or planning to pursue a relevant designation (CFA, CAIA) is considered an asset
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively
- Optimal interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally
