St. Andrew's United Church is seeking a reliable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented Part-Time Building Cleaner to maintain a welcoming, clean, and safe environment for our congregation, staff, and community visitors.

This role offers high day-to-day autonomy. You will have full discretion over your daily task prioritization, provided all areas receive the required attention based on our master cleaning schedule. You will report to the M&P; (Ministry and Personnel) Committee and receive general direction from the Buildings & Grounds Committee.

Schedule & Hours

- 8 to 10 hours per week (capped at 10 hours).
- Hours are spread across 4 to 5 working days per week.
- Highly flexible daily hours, with the exception of Sunday night/Monday morning curb-side garbage placement.

Key Responsibilities Every Visit Tasks (4–5 Days/Week):

- Main Level Washrooms (Women's & Accessible): Sanitize toilets and sinks, clean mirrors, wipe light switches, door knobs, doors, and baseboards. Sweep and mop floors, spot-clean walls, and restock soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Basement Washrooms (Men's & Women's): Clean and sanitize toilets, mirrors, sinks, light switches, handles, and door knobs. Sweep/mop floors, spot-clean walls/baseboards, and restock supplies.
- Garbage Management: Empty small trash cans across the entire facility (including main-level spaces, basement rooms, upstairs offices, and high-traffic foyers) into the larger bins located in the kitchen.
- Kitchen: Clean and sanitize counters and sinks.
- Spot Cleaning: Proactively clean any obvious messes or spills throughout the building.

Weekly Tasks:

- Weekly Waste & Recycling: Organize and move all garbage and recycling to the curb prior to 7:00 AM each Monday (can be completed Sunday night).
- Church/Sanctuary Foyer: Vacuum floors,



spot-clean walls, wipe front doors and glass surfaces, sanitize switches/handles, and wipe down all surfaces.
- Back Foyer & Stairwells: Sweep and mop floors, vacuum area rugs, clean all doors/handles, and clean front windows. Wipe display cabinet glass and the wooden pew. Spot-clean walls, mop the staircase (hand-washing stubborn spots), and wipe down railings.
- Church/Sanctuary Front Meeting Room: Vacuum carpets and mats, and clean window sills/surfaces.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Proven experience in commercial, residential, or institutional cleaning preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage your time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean environment.
- Physical capability to perform standard cleaning duties (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, lifting garbage bags).
- Ability to adhere to written and oral Church policies.
- A respectful and constructive attitude; we welcome feedback on operations to improve efficiency.
- Eligible to work legally in Ontario, Canada.
