POSITION OVERVIEW

BCW Traffic Management Ltd. is a leading traffic control company in BC looking for a reliable, hard-working Parts Runner / Yard Laborer to join our traffic control and road-building operations in Kelowna/Vernon, Okanagan, area. In this role, you will be the backbone of our field crews—ensuring trucks are loaded with the right traffic control devices (signs, stands, cones, delineators, and radios), running urgent replacement parts or equipment to active roadside job sites, and keeping our main yard and vehicle fleet organized and operational.

Positions Available:

- Parts Runner/laborer (minimum 1-2 years experience)

Key Responsibilities

- Field & Site Deliveries: Safely drive company pickup trucks or flat decks to deliver replacement traffic signs, stands, rubber/concrete bases, cones, batteries, and safety gear to active roadside work zones.
- Yard Management & Organization: Organize, sort, and maintain traffic control inventory in the yard (storing signs, stacking cones, checking flashing lights/solar units, and maintaining clean storage bins).
- Loading & Unloading: Assist crew leads and drivers in loading and unloading traffic control equipment, barricades, and material onto trucks safely and efficiently.
- Vehicle & Equipment Upkeep: Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections on company vehicles and trailers; transport trucks to local mechanics for scheduled service, tire changes, or repairs.
- Shop & General Labor: Perform general yard and shop maintenance, including sweeping, power-washing equipment, organizing shop tools,



and minor repairs on damaged wooden sign frames or delineator bases.
- Inventory & Record Tracking: Track equipment check-outs/returns, log daily mileage and deliveries, and report damaged or missing traffic control gear to the operations manager.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of experience working in a construction yard, warehouse, parts department, or general field labor role (traffic control industry experience is a strong asset).
- Licensing & Driving: Valid BC Driver’s License (Class 5 required; Class 3 or experience towing trailers/flat decks is a distinct advantage) with a clean driving abstract.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to frequently lift, carry, load, and stack heavy traffic control items (rubber base pads, signboards, and bundles of cones weighing 50–75 lbs) and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Safety & Regulatory Awareness: Familiarity with WorkSafeBC safety standards; willingness to complete or hold valid TCP (Traffic Control Person) certification is a plus.
- Reliability & Time Management: Punctual, independent worker capable of prioritizing urgent roadside drop-offs and managing traffic/route delays in the Lower Mainland.
- Communication: Clear verbal communication to coordinate with dispatchers, site supervisors, and fellow crew members via phone and two-way radio.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $19.00-$24.00 per hour
