Are you a payroll professional with a strong attention to detail and a passion for delivering accurate, timely results? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Payroll Specialist. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the seamless processing of payroll across the organization, supporting employees and leaders while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations. You will help drive accuracy, efficiency, and a positive employee experience through effective payroll administration and collaboration with cross-functional teams. A day in the life of a Payroll Specialist
- Conduct full cycle payroll processing for the company, semi-monthly
- Prepare and import semi-monthly payroll files into our payroll processing system (ADP)
- Conduct year end transactions including T4 processing and annual reconciliations for Federal/Provincial agencies
- Processes Record of Employments (ROEs) and termination pay in a timely manner and in accordance with Employment Standards Act (ESA)
- Generate payroll reports from ADP as per department needs
- Report WSIB/WSBC premiums on a monthly /quarterly basis
- Act as a primary contact for all payroll inquiries and requests from employees
- Process employee expense reimbursement
- Prepare monthly entries and reconcile corporate credit cards as well as store deposits
- Work on other accounting work on an ad hoc basis
Who you are
- You have demonstrated experience in payroll processing, with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance and meeting deadlines
- You are tech-savvy, with a high level of comfort using payroll systems
- You have a proven track record of delivering accurate and timely payroll in a quick-paced, deadline-driven environment
- You possess strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple payroll cycles
- You have the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees, leadership, and cross-functional teams
- You are detail-oriented, results-driven, and demonstrate a strong sense of urgency when resolving payroll discrepancies and meeting critical deadlines
What you need
- Minimum of 1 year of full cycle payroll and payroll software experience – experience using ADP is preferred - plus a minimum 1 year in an accounting related role
- Post-secondary degree with concentration in accounting and working towards/have a PCP designation will be considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Excel a must, with demonstrated skill in V-Look Ups, Pivot Tables.
