Role overview
This is a 14-month contract to cover a maternity leave on our team. The People & Culture Generalist will provide support and delivery of best practices and solutions pertaining to attracting, retaining, and inspiring employees. This role plays a key part in shaping the employee experience, representing the company’s culture, and ensuring a smooth and positive recruitment and onboarding journey as well as support for employees on their career journey at Carlsberg.
You will be part of a close and supportive 5-person team, reporting to the People & Culture Director and working closely with our Compensation & Benefit Specialist and P&C; Business Partners. The role is at our Kitchener Brewery.
What you’ll be doing
- Manage the full recruitment cycle, including posting jobs, screening resumes, conducting interviews, coordinating assessments, and facilitating offers.
- Lead employer branding initiatives in line with Carlsberg global strategies and Canada needs.
- Coordinate and lead new employee orientation to ensure a welcoming and informative first-day experience.
- Develop and oversee onboarding plans with People & Culture Business Partners that support new hires in integrating smoothly into their roles, teams, and the company culture.
- Process bi-weekly payroll, benefits and RSP administration.
- STD, LTD & WSIB claims and return-to-work management.
- Lead immigration-related monitoring and planning.
- Prepare reports and analysis of key HR metrics.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs.
- Involvement in employee engagement activities, including working with our Ambassadors.
- You will be involved in other upcoming initiatives as well, such as implementing an Applicant Tracking System.
What we’re looking for
- Post-secondary HR education; 2–5 years related experience, CHRP an asset
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Proven relationship-building across all levels
- Discretion, professionalism, and a positive, solutions-focused mindset
- Solid understanding of sourcing, interviewing, and employment laws
- Proficient in MS Office tools
- Comfortable with data and analysis
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
