Role Description The Pharmacy Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Edmonton, AB, responsible for overseeing daily pharmacy operations and ensuring safe, effective, and efficient delivery of pharmacy services. This role manages and mentors pharmacy team members, including pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, to maintain high standards of patient care and regulatory compliance.
The Pharmacy
Manager reviews and verifies prescriptions, supervises dispensing activities, and ensures accurate documentation and inventory management. Additional responsibilities include overseeing immunization services, implementing pharmacy practice policies and procedures, supporting professional development of staff, and fostering a customer-focused environment.
The role also involves collaborating with store leadership to achieve business objectives while prioritizing patient well-being and safety.
Qualifications
- Solid knowledge of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice, with the ability to apply clinical judgment to patient care and dispensing activities.
- Experience leading and supporting Pharmacy Technicians, including delegating tasks, coaching performance, and promoting teamwork.
- Proficiency in managing Prescription workflows, including verification, dispensing, counseling, and resolving medication-related issues.
- Competence in providing Immunization services, adhering to provincial regulations, safety protocols, and best practices.
- Licensed Pharmacist in good standing with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (or eligibility for licensure in Alberta).
- Demonstrated leadership, people management, and conflict resolution skills in a community pharmacy setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with patients, colleagues, and other health care providers.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience with pharmacy management systems, inventory control, and regulatory and third-party payer requirements.
- Previous pharmacy management or supervisory experience in a community setting is an asset.
