PRACTICE ADVISOR - 18 MONTH CONTRACT

Salary Range: $101,600.00 To $127,000.00 Annually The above Salary Range is our Hiring Range which is commensurate with experience

Position Summary

Responsible for enhancing practice to enable registrants to meet the Standards of Practice resulting in better patient outcomes. Promoting and supporting the OCP mandate by conducting practice assessments in various practice settings to ensure adherence to all legislation, Policies, Guidelines, and Standards of Practice to serve and protect the public. Championing new practice initiatives with multifaceted coaching skills to influence, manage, and drive change, while supporting the secure delivery of patient-focused care through the provision of resources, references, and coaching to promote self-learning.

What you’ll do at OCP

- Schedule and conduct practice assessments within the assigned geographical area and occasionally other communities in the province of Ontario to evaluate registrants’ practice, ensuring compliance with the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.
- Identify and evaluate areas for improvement and factors affecting patient care.
- Provide guidance, direction, and coaching to registrants to minimize risks and enhance health outcomes.
- Review registrant’s practice, apply decision-making skills to assess and document observations and discussions that occurred during the practice assessment.
- Conduct reassessments and other additional assessments (registration committee-ordered assessments, QA committee-ordered assessments, and post-remediation assessments) throughout the province as assigned by the Quality Assurance Committee and/or the Practice Advisor Lead.
- Prioritize practice assessments within territory based on risk, internal and external information, and other required follow up.
- Respond to questions from registrants; liaise with other departments within the College to obtain information relevant to responding to questions from registrants and/or the visit.
- Coach registrants to develop goals that lead to practice change as well as ensuring Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics are met and enhanced.




- Continually examine work processes and explore opportunities for improving efficiencies through team collaboration, embracing technology for novel assessment approaches, eliminating, or altering work processes and make recommendations to the Practice Advisor Lead. Work within records management principles and guidelines for record keeping.
- Occasional extensive travel required. Involves visits to practice sites throughout Ontario (as required per most current assessment model) with occasional overnight trips.
- Other reasonable duties as assigned by the Lead, Practice Advisors or Manager, Quality Assurance including orientation of new team members.
- Attend quarterly OCP onsite meetings, as well as participate in weekly team meetings, consistency training sessions, and other professional development activities as required.
- Act as subject matter experts for initiatives and projects across different teams within the college and for various organizational initiatives.
- Participate actively in committees, assist in article preparation and writing, and engage in both internal and external presentations as needed.
- Provide feedback for various interdepartmental initiatives upon request.

- Excellent written, verbal, and nonverbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing environments
- Self-motivation and solid organizational skills to manage workload capacity efficiently and effectively to be flexible in time management, deal effectively with multiple demands and maintain composure while progressing toward desired outcomes
- Ability to coach, influence and provide guidance to registrants
- Strong decision-making skills to determine the best possible choice in the shortest time possible, as well as being able to show reasons that support your decisions
- Ability to recognize, respond and adapt to various stages within individual change management principles




- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
- Tact and diplomacy with all internal and external system partners
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively initiate, foster and maintain peer to peer relationships with registrants
- Judgment and discretion; ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive material
- Ability to deal effectively with system partners in person and over the phone and defuse difficult situations as required
- Ability to communicate effectively with people of varied backgrounds with cultural sensitivity in individual and group settings
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Teams, SharePoint, and relational databases

What experience we prefer

Education

- Must hold an active Part A Pharmacist license in Ontario.
- Must be a registrant in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.

Work Experience

- Minimum 5 years practice experience.
- Must have 2 years of related progressive experience in a community setting.

Other

- Must have own vehicle and possess a valid Ontario driver’s license
