We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Planning Dispatcher to join our dynamic team. Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain daily transportation schedules using advanced transportation management systems (TMS) to ensure timely freight movement, planning orders and tractors in the zone for truck optimization.
- Coordinate and relay appointment requirements with Customer Service Representatives (CSR) and/or customers to arrange pickups, deliveries, and route planning.
- Enter and update shipment data accurately within systems such as AS400 ensuring all information is current and precise.
- Ensure payroll accuracy for drivers assigned.
- Ensure all equipment is certified to be able to travel on our highways, both with Company policies and DOT regulations.
- Make sure that drivers are making the minimum required monthly miles.
- Booking/selling additional freight as necessary to ensure customer satisfaction and driver optimization.
- Ensure that all Holidays and work days are covered with the appropriate staff.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, warehouse staff, and clients via multi-line phone systems while practicing qualified phone etiquette.
- Monitor shipping and receiving activities to ensure compliance with company policies and shipping standards.
- Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost reductions through detailed analysis skills.
- Maintain detailed records of dispatch activities, shipment statuses, and related documentation for audit purposes.
- Any other related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Proven experience with transportation management systems (TMS), AS400, and SyteLine or similar ERP platforms.
- Strong understanding of supply chain logistics, freight operations, and shipping & receiving procedures.
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy in typing and record keeping.
- Demonstrated analysis skills to interpret logistics data and optimize dispatch processes.
- Exceptional communication skills paired with professional phone etiquette for effective stakeholder interaction.
- Ability to manage multi-line phone systems efficiently while maintaining clear and courteous communication.
- Familiarity with freight scheduling and shipping documentation requirements.
