About Us

We develop digital health products spanning patient-facing mobile applications, clinician-facing web platforms, and clinical data-capture tools. Several product lines share a common engineering platform and release on a regular cadence. Our products are used in clinical and consumer health settings and are held to the standards of accuracy, clarity, and quality that health software requires.

Position Summary

Location: Remote Engagement: Part time contract, beginning with a scoped project; ongoing engagement with potential to expand The Product Experience & Content Lead defines the standard to which our products are designed, written, and released. The role owns the user-experience and content specification across the product portfolio, reviews designs before development in behavioural terms, researches and writes user-facing health content, and establishes the process by which quality is defined and verified from design through release.

The role works in close partnership with the Product Quality Reviewer, who verifies each release against the standards this role establishes.

Key Responsibilities

Standards and specification

- Develop and maintain a written UI and content specification derived from existing products and design assets, covering layout, components, interaction states, tone, terminology, reading level, and accessibility baseline.
- Author and maintain the release checklist used by the Product Quality Reviewer, keeping it current as products evolve.
- Define acceptance criteria for features prior to development, so that the intended outcome is unambiguous to engineering and verifiable at release.

Design review

- Review designs and prototypes before development and provide a structured assessment of expected user behaviour: points of hesitation, likely abandonment, implicit demands placed on the user, and drivers of continued engagement.
- Provide recommendations grounded in behavioural principles rather than preference, with clear rationale.

Health content

- Research and write user-facing health content, including onboarding, explanatory material, instructions, educational content, and notifications, pitched appropriately for patient or clinician audiences.
- Review existing content for clinical accuracy, clarity, consistency, and audience fit, and correct or rewrite as required.

Market and product insight

- Maintain a current, evidence-based understanding of design patterns, engagement mechanics, and outcomes across digital health and consumer health products.
- Translate this understanding into specific, actionable recommendations for the portfolio.

Process

- Define and document the design-to-release workflow: review stages, responsible roles, and the criteria applied at each stage.

Qualifications

Required

- Working knowledge of user psychology and behavioural design, with the ability to reason from those principles to concrete design recommendations.
- Excellent written English at a native or equivalent level, with demonstrated ability to research a health topic and produce accurate, clear prose for lay or clinical audiences.
- Comfort with health and clinical subject matter and a disciplined approach to verifying information before asserting it.
- Ability to work independently and produce original written work. AI tools may be used in the course of the work; candidates must be able to work without them and to identify where AI-generated drafts are inaccurate, particularly in clinical content.
- Ability to translate judgement into clear, usable documentation that others can follow.
- Self-directed working style; comfortable operating from a brief rather than a task list.

Preferred

- Background in UX research, product design, behavioural science, health communication, medical writing, or content strategy.
- Experience in digital health, medical technology, or other regulated product environments.
- Proficiency with Figma; familiarity with accessibility standards and plain-language or health-literacy guidelines.

Scope This role specifies and reviews. It does not produce visual design assets, conduct release inspection (the responsibility of the Product Quality Reviewer), or perform regulatory or quality-system functions, which are handled separately. Documentation produced in this role supports those functions.

Engagement Terms The engagement begins with a defined project at a fixed fee: producing the UI and content specification and the release checklist for one product line. On successful completion, the role continues as an ongoing part-time engagement with an agreed weekly commitment, with potential to expand in scope and hours.

Application

Please submit the following

1. Patient explanation (250–300 words). Explain to a North American adult newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes what an HbA1c result means, how it relates to the glucose readings they take at home, and what they should do with the number. Continuous prose, no bullet points, suitable for a general adult reader. Clinical accuracy matters more than style.
2. Behavioural analysis (200–250 words). Choose a consumer health application you have personally used for at least two weeks. Identify one specific screen or element, the user behaviour it produces, the mechanism responsible, your evidence, and one change you would make with its expected effect.
3. One artefact you authored that others used to make decisions without you present: a style guide, content standard, UI specification, checklist, or similar. Redact as needed. Add two sentences on who used it and how.

A formal cover letter is not required.
