West Coast Cycling Association The WCCA’s mission is to bring people together through their shared passion for outdoor recreation, build a legacy of inclusive and sustainable trails, and promote a healthy and active lifestyle that embraces the outstanding terrain and natural beauty of Western Newfoundland. The WCCA focuses on developing mountain biking along the West Coast of Newfoundland. We focus on the West Coast because we live, work, and play here and know the potential.

The terrain, diversity, and outstanding natural beauty of the region are among the best in Eastern Canada.

The WCCA is looking for a Project Coordinator to help meet its mission. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Project Coordinator is responsible for supporting the organization according to the strategic direction set by the volunteer Board of Directors. The Project Coordinator will directly manage the activities needed for the WCCA to build and maintain trails, host events, and advocate for mountain biking in the region.

Performance Expectations

You are committed to fulfilling the strategic objectives of the WCCA by offering support to staff, partners, and stakeholders; and to representing the WCCA to government, land management agencies, and other trail user groups.

General Organization Support

- Assist the Executive Director in the development of project management documents such as project budgets, project schedules, project plans and marketing campaigns




- Support the work of the Board by liaising with external organizations and following up with contacts as required.
- Coordinate the allocation of project resources to ensure the project team has what’s needed at the right time.
- Assign tasks to team members and help them understand what’s expected from them in terms of project milestones and deliverables.
- Help the Executive Director and Board members monitor project progress and team members’ performance
- Actively participate in the development of the overall strategic direction of the WCCA with the Board.
- Support the Board with Land Manager relations and meetings.
- Support in promotion of Association initiatives with various Social Media accounts

Financial Management
- Execute administrative tasks such as managing invoices, expense claims, purchase orders, among other financial documents

Grants & Fundraising
- Assist in handling workflow and administrative processes surrounding grant applications and fundraising initiatives

Program/Event Support
- Working with all staff, coordinating the delivery of the organization’s programs and events.
- Execute and complete documentation required for significant WCCA events, such as cycling races and volunteer build days.
- Other duties & responsibilities as required.

Education and Experience




- An undergraduate degree/diploma in business administration, project management, or related area would be considered an asset
- A demonstration of at least 2 years of experience in a similar role would be beneficial.
- Willingness to complete trail building, maintenance and management training is required

Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies
- A persuasive and passionate communication style with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Self-directed, requiring minimal supervision.
- Robust problem solving skills, organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Able to manage changing priorities.
- Shows initiative, creativity and integrity.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams/Zoom/Meet.
- Experience in Social Media and web platforms (meta, squarespace, canva, mailchimp)
- Working knowledge of Google Docs and Drive is essential
