New Moon Psychotherapy is a growing multidisciplinary psychotherapy practice in downtown Toronto specializing in trauma, relationships, and sex therapy. We are looking for a Psychiatrist to join our team and help us develop and expand psychiatric services for our adult clients.

This is an opportunity to work alongside a collaborative team of psychotherapists and social workers while helping shape what psychiatric care looks like within an established psychotherapy practice.

About the Role

We are looking for a psychiatrist interested in providing assessment, consultation, and collaborative treatment planning for adults experiencing a broad range of mental health concerns.

Depending on the psychiatrist's interests and preferred practice model, the role may include:

- Medication assessment, recommendations, and management, where appropriate
- Consultation for clients whose symptoms or treatment needs would benefit from psychiatric input
- Psychiatric assessment and diagnostic clarification
- Assessment of mood and anxiety disorders, trauma and PTSD, ADHD, personality disorders, and other complex or overlapping presentations
- Recommendations to support ongoing psychotherapy and treatment planning
- Collaboration with treating therapists and other healthcare providers, with appropriate client consent

Our practice works extensively with clients experiencing trauma and PTSD, sexual and relationship concerns, emotion dysregulation, anxiety, depression, and other complex mental health concerns. Experience with trauma-related presentations would therefore be particularly valuable. As we are currently developing this service,



there is also an prospect for the successful psychiatrist to help shape the role and the types of psychiatric services offered through the clinic based on their areas of expertise and interest.

Who We're Looking For The ideal candidate will:

- Be licensed and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) and qualified to practise as a psychiatrist in Ontario
- Have experience providing psychiatric assessment and diagnosis to adults
- Be comfortable working with complex presentations and diagnostic overlap
- Value collaborative, interdisciplinary care
- Take a compassionate, trauma-informed, and non-judgmental approach
- Be comfortable working with diverse clients and a broad range of mental health, relationship, and sexuality-related concerns
- Have strong communication and documentation skills

Experience or interest in any of the following would be considered an asset:
- Trauma and PTSD
- ADHD and adult neurodevelopmental assessment
- Personality disorders
- Sexual health and sexual concerns
- LGBTQIA+ mental health
- Substance use and concurrent disorders
- Forensic psychiatry or forensic assessment
- Dissociative disorders

We are looking for someone who values professional autonomy and collaborative care, and we are open to developing the service around the psychiatrist's clinical interests, availability, and preferred scope of practice.

Our practice is located at 130 Spadina Avenue in downtown Toronto, near Queen and Spadina. Our clinicians have particular expertise in trauma, sex, and relationship therapy and use approaches including EMDR, CPT, IFS, DBT, somatic therapies, and specialized sex therapy.

Schedule & Practice Arrangement

We are open to discussing a flexible arrangement based on the psychiatrist's availability, interests, and existing practice.

The role may be structured around psychiatric assessment and consultation, ongoing psychiatric care, or a combination of both, depending on the psychiatrist’s preferred practice model and the clinical needs of clients.

Compensation

Competitive compensation will be based on the agreed-upon practice model and scope of services.

Depending on the arrangement, the role may involve OHIP billing and/or compensation for non-OHIP clinical, consultation, administrative, or collaborative work. Specific details will be discussed with the successful candidate based on their preferred practice model and scope of involvement with the clinic.
