Position: Radiation Safety Officer
Type: Contract
Compensation: $65–$75/hour
Location: Remote
Role Responsibilities
- Write challenging single-turn prompts in radiological safety, labeled as benign, dual-use, and adversarial.
- Evaluate model responses against a defined policy standard to ensure correct handling.
- Write reference answers with technical reasoning for correct responses.
- Develop prompts that sit on the dual-use line, ensuring models draw the line reliably.
- Provide written rationales for judgments that non-specialists can follow.
- Engage in writing and evaluating misuse scenarios in radiological safety.
Qualifications
Must-Have
- Named RSO on a broad-scope license with program management experience.
- Experience as RSO or deputy RSO in a university,
hospital, or research institute.
- Industrial or irradiator RSO experience with Category 1 and 2 sealed sources.
- Licensing and compliance expertise with NRC or national regulator submissions.
- Radiation protection management accountable for ALARA, audits, and training.
Preferred
- Prior technical writing, published research, or expert witness experience.
