ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY





NL Health Services – Western Zone is seeking a permanent full-time salaried Family Physician to provide primary care at the Port aux Basques Medical Clinic as a member of the Port aux Basques Family Care Team and Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL. Locum opportunities are also available.

The position includes clinical and emergency room duties involving family practice. Clinic coverage runs Monday to Friday, divided equally between the salaried Family Physicians at this site. After-hours, weekend, and statutory holiday on-call assignments are shared on an equitable basis with the Family Physicians serving the community. Additional income is generated through billings for Category B Emergency Room coverage.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
- Eligible for licensure as a Family Physician with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
- Current ACLS certification
- Must satisfy credentialing requirements of NL Health Services Western Zone's Discipline of Family Practice including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
- Experience working in an Emergency Room considered an asset

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES





- Provide primary care services including family medicine clinics and Category B emergency room coverage
- Provide clinic coverage Monday to Friday divided equally among salaried Family Physicians at this site
- Participate in after-hours, weekend, and statutory holiday on-call coverage on an equitable basis
- Work collaboratively with the Port aux Basques Family Care Team and Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre interdisciplinary team
- Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements

REMUNERATION

Step assignment determined by the Department of Health and Community Services in accordance with Provincial Guidelines, with yearly progression thereafter. Additional income is generated through billings for Category B Emergency Room coverage. An annual Retention Bonus is offered in accordance with the current MOA.
