The Manager works closely with the directors, who retain corporate, governance and financial oversight, while the Manager provides practical leadership of service delivery, staff supervision and residential operations.

Core Responsibilities

Service Delivery and Resident Support The Manager will ensure that each individual receives support based on their person-centred plan, preferences, abilities, goals, communication needs, health needs and identified safeguards. The Manager will support residents to exercise choice, maintain relationships, participate in their community and develop as much independence as reasonably possible.

The Manager will monitor changes in residents' needs and ensure that support plans, staffing approaches and service strategies are adjusted where appropriate.

Staffing and Supervision The Manager will:

- participate in recruitment and selection of frontline and relief employees;
- coordinate staff orientation and resident-specific training;
- prepare and maintain staff schedules;
- ensure adequate coverage for regular shifts, overnight support, sick leave and unexpected absences;
- supervise, coach and provide feedback to staff;

- community participation;
- independence and life skills;
- risks and safeguards; and
- changing needs.

Health,

Medication and Safety The Manager will oversee implementation of resident-specific health and medication requirements within the scope of LRC's services and applicable professional/licensing requirements. Responsibilities include ensuring staff understand relevant protocols, maintaining medication and health documentation, responding appropriately to changes in health, and coordinating with healthcare professionals where required.

Incident and Crisis Management The Manager will provide operational leadership during significant incidents or emergencies and ensure:

- immediate safety needs are addressed;
- appropriate escalation occurs;
- emergency services are contacted when necessary;
- required internal and external notifications are made;

- LRC policies and procedures;
- privacy and records requirements;
- employment and occupational health and safety requirements; and
- other applicable legislation and regulatory requirements.

The Manager will participate in internal quality reviews, incident trend reviews, accessibility reviews, health and safety inspections and continuous improvement activities. Community Inclusion The Manager will ensure staff support residents to participate in ordinary community life based on their individual interests and preferences.

This may include recreation, volunteering, community events, libraries, fitness, local businesses, cultural or spiritual activities, relationships and other resident-chosen activities.

The goal is to support meaningful participation and natural relationships rather than simply keeping residents occupied.

Communication and Collaboration The Manager will maintain respectful working relationships with:

- residents;
- families and authorized representatives;
- LRC directors;
- frontline employees;
- CLBC;
- Island Health/licensing personnel;
- healthcare professionals;

- accountability and professional boundaries.

Education and Experience

Qualifications include

- post-secondary education in community support, social services, human services, psychology, nursing, behavioural sciences or a related field; and
- 5-10 years of direct experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities, including meaningful supervisory or leadership experience.

Equivalent combinations of relevant education and substantial community-living experience may also be considered. Experience in Staffed Residential / group-home services and CLBC-funded services is strongly preferred.
