Responsibilities
- Assist with installing roofing materials, including shingles, following project specifications
- Use hand tools such as hammers, drills, and saws to cut, shape, and secure roofing components
- Perform heavy lifting of materials and equipment to support installation efforts safely and efficiently
- Read and interpret blueprints and construction plans to understand project requirements
- Prepare work sites by cleaning debris, setting up scaffolding, and ensuring safety measures are in place
- Apply caulking and sealants to ensure watertight seals around flashing, vents, and other roof penetrations
- Support carpentry tasks related to roof framing or structural components as needed
Skills
- Proficiency with hand tools used in roofing and construction work
- Prior construction or handyman experience demonstrating versatility on job sites
- Knowledge of carpentry techniques relevant to roofing projects
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret technical drawings accurately
- Physical strength for heavy lifting and working at heights safely
- Experience with caulking to create weatherproof seals around roof penetrations
- Familiarity with blueprint reading enhances understanding of project scope and details
