Job Duties:

Key Responsibilities:

Sterile Surgical Assistance:

- Perform sterile surgical assistance for cataract intraocular procedures with utmost precision and zero errors.
- Efficiently hand instruments and supplies to surgeons during procedures.
- Maintain strict sterility of instruments and surgical field throughout procedures.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues promptly to ensure uninterrupted surgical flow.

Non-Sterile Surgical Assistance:

- Provide assistance in sterile surgical procedures such as LASIK and RELACS with

meticulous attention to detail.
- Support surgeons by handing instruments and maintaining sterile techniques as required.

Instrument and Equipment Management:

- Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile drapes.

Patient Care:

Job Summary:

Assists surgeons and other healthcare professionals in accordance with established national, provincial and accreditation standards and facility policies and procedures. Responsible for coordinating and managing the activities in the operating room and the nursing care of patients during surgical procedures by ensuring a clean, orderly, safe and sterile environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:





- Collaborates with the surgical team to deliver nursing care to patients undergoing surgical/invasive procedures
- Performs circulating functions, such as monitoring, recoding, and managing overall nursing care of patients before, during, and after surgery
- Verifies identity of patient, surgical location and if the patient has given informed consent for the procedure prior to surgery
- Updates patient medical records before, during, and after surgery
- Monitors and recording the patient's vitals pre-operation and throughout the surgery and responds to any changes or complications that may arise

As an OR Technician at UVG, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms during eye surgeries. Requirements:

- Completion of an accredited surgical technology program.
- Current Ontario RN license, RPN license and ACLS required.
- Minimum two (2) years of clinical experience with an emphasis in PACU, surgery or ER required.
- Working knowledge and experience in preop/PACU from hospital or ambulatory surgery Centre including direct patient care preferred
- Ability to adhere to work schedule and manage time appropriately. Ability to utilize resources in a timely, organized and cost-effective manner.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) is advantageous.
- Prior experience as an OR Technician, particularly in ophthalmology, is highly desirable.

- Must graduate from recognized post-secondary programs.
