Redstone Food Group Ltd. (“Redstone”) is a high-growth commercial bakery based in Mississauga that manufactures bread and bakery products, focused on the in-store bakery segment. The Company is known for its entrepreneurial culture and commitment to quality and customer-centric growth. The Company focusses on private-label baked goods including artisan breads, garlic bread, muffins, cakes and cookies, all manufactured in four commercial bakery facilities based in Mississauga and Vaughan.
This is an unique opportunity to step into a Senior Accounting role in a rapidly growing business with a clear trajectory.
Redstone Food Group Ltd. (www.redstonefoodgroup.com) is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and highly analytical individual to oversee FP&A; and a range of bookkeeping and operational finance tasks at our new state of the art commercial baking facility in Mississauga. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on working with data, performing financial analysis, and leveraging advanced Excel and database tools to support informed business decisions.
Please note this is an on site role from Monday to Friday at our office in Mississauga. There is no option to work from home.
Position Summary:
This dual-focus role blends financial analysis and executive reporting with full-cycle accounting and daily bookkeeping operations. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting timely and reliable financial reporting, and ensuring that both operational and financial data are captured, analyzed, and communicated effectively.
On the accounting side, the role plays a critical part in daily financial operations, including general ledger management, account reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable processing, payroll support, HST filing, and customs reporting and clearance. The Senior Accountant ensures compliance with ASPE and internal accounting and operational policies, contributes to effective financial controls, and supports audit readiness.
The role requires strong cross-departmental collaboration with Operations, Procurement, and Quality Assurance teams. General Managers and Vice Presidents may assign additional operational tasks related to plant or divisional activities, requiring the Senior Accountant to balance corporate financial standards with real-time operational support while still delivering high-quality financial insight and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Analysis & Monthly/Quarterly Executive Reporting (50%)
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A;)
- Prepare monthly KPI dashboards for sales and operations teams.
- Conduct monthly margin analysis and customer profitability analyses to support sales and operations teams.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, annual planning, and rolling financial models.
- Work closely with operations teams to interpret production, labour, efficiency, and waste data from a financial perspective.
- Perform ad hoc financial modelling related to capacity, capex decisions, pricing changes, and cost sensitivity.
Monthly & Quarterly Reporting Package
- Prepare major sections of the company’s monthly and quarterly executive reporting package, including:
- Financial summary and performance commentary
- P&L;, balance sheet, and cash flow analysis
- Operations metrics (waste, throughput, labour, efficiency)
- Sales performance and customer insights
- HR updates and QA metrics
- Ingredient cost trends and forward-looking outlooks
- Ensure accuracy and alignment across Finance, Operations, Sales, Purchasing, and HR.
- Improve clarity, structure, visuals, and narrative within the reporting package.
- Support leadership by providing insights to guide operational and financial decision-making.
2. Bookkeeping, Accounting & Inventory (50%)
General Accounting and Reporting
- Maintain the general ledger; ensure timely and accurate posting of journal entries and transactions.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of accruals and reporting schedules.
- Assist with internal financial reporting, commentary and budget variance analysis and review.
Accounts Payable
- Verify, arrange approval and review and process vendor invoices and employee reimbursements.
- Ensure timely and accurate vendor payments in coordination with procurement and operations.
- Maintain accounts payable records and resolve invoice or payment discrepancies.
Accounts Receivable
- Review or supervise the entry of customer purchase orders; generate and issue invoices.
- Post customer deductions and payments, ensuring accurate application and reconciliation.
- Report on and follow up on outstanding accounts to support timely collections and accurate receivables tracking.
Account Reconciliations
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies.
- Maintain appropriate supporting documentation for audit and reporting purposes.
- Assist with continuous improvement of reconciliation templates and procedures for greater accuracy and efficiency
Payroll and Tax Support
- Verify employee timesheets with the production team to ensure payroll accuracy.
- Submit payroll on a timely basis and post payroll-related journal entries.
- Assist with periodic tax filings, including HST and other remittances as required.
Internal Controls and Audit
- Ensure compliance with ASPE and adherence to internal accounting procedures.
- Support the maintenance of internal controls and participate in audit preparation activities.
- Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor requests as needed.
Costing and Operational Support
- Assist with inventory costing and reconciliation of the cost of goods sold.
- Collaborate with operations and purchasing teams to validate inventory valuations and investigate variances.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with department heads to provide financial data and support operational decision-making.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives relating to financial reporting, controls, and system usage.
- Complete special assignments and ad hoc financial or operational tasks as requested, in alignment with divisional priorities and operational requirements.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Hands-on accounting experience with at least 3 years in similar roles.
- Minimum 3 years of experience using QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise or Premier.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Power Query, INDEX/MATCH, Pivot Tables, and data visualization.
- Experience with Microsoft Access, including querying and reporting.
- Solid analytical mindset, with the ability to break down complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Tech-savvy, with the ability to learn and adapt to new software systems with ease. We want to learn new tricks from you!
- Experience with purchasing, financial forecasting, and inventory cost analysis is a plus.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple responsibilities efficiently.

Pay: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
