Job Title: Senior Accountant
Location: 430 McNeilly Rd, Stoney Creek, ON L8E 5E3
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:30AM to 5:00PM (40 hours/week)

About the Position The Senior Accountant oversees full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of residential and commercial real estate assets including office, retail, industrial, and mixed-use properties as well as active development and construction projects. This role prepares accurate financial statements, and reviews the financial statements prepared by our external property management companies and partners. The individual will closely collaborate with property management, asset management and development teams.
This individual will also provide land development support such as financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting. The position requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of financial operations of the residential and commercial leasing, developmental and construction operations as well as the ability to manage multiple properties simultaneously.
Position Responsibilities
Residential & Commercial Property Accounting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for income-producing properties.
- Maintain general ledger activity, including journal entries, accruals., capital expenditures and reclassifications
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and variance analyses
- Manage cash flow reporting and monitor operating and capital reserve balances
- Review and approve AP/AR activity and ensure accurate tenant billing
- Prepare CAM, real estate tax, and insurance reconciliations
- Process straight-line rent schedules and reconcile tenant lease obligations
Financial Planning, Analysis & Operational Support
- Prepare annual CAM budgets
- Provide property-level financial insights to asset management and development leadership
- Assist in preparing cash flow projections and pro forma updates for the property management and land development
- Partner with property managers on operating performance and variance explanations.
- Prepare and maintain land development budgets and cash flow schedules including variance analysis.
Compliance, Controls, Audit & Other
- Ensure compliance with company policies, ASPE, lender requirements, and partnership agreements
- Assist with quarterly and annual audits, including preparing work papers and supporting schedules
- Maintain documentation for lease agreements and capital expenditures
- Maintain Joint Venture accounting
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation is an asset.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, financial analysis, or FP&A; roles within medium to large organizations (preferably with multiple divisions, subsidiaries, or business units).
- Experience in real estate, construction, or project-based finance within medium to large organizations is strongly preferred.
- At least 2 years in a senior role with demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling in complex, multi-entity environments.
- Proven track record of working successfully in fast-paced, high-growth, or dynamic organizations where adaptability and problem-solving are critical.
- Background in client-side finance and/or accounting with exposure to multi-entity organizations is considered an asset.
- Proven experience working with ERP systems in complex organizational structures and managing financial data across multiple entities.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE)
required; familiarity with IFRS and consolidated financial reporting is an asset.
- Experience with inter-company transactions, eliminations, and multi-subsidiary financial consolidation is highly preferred.

- Strong understanding of financial systems, processes, and controls.
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to interpret and present complex financial information.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Collaborative, resourceful, and able to thrive in a rapid-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Experience with ERP implementation and system optimization is an asset.
- Accounting designation required.
