Job Summary The Department of Medical Imaging at McMaster University is seeking a dynamic and strategic Senior Advisor, Research Administration to support the advancement of the Department's research mission and implementation of its strategic priorities .

Working closely with departmental leadership, faculty researchers, trainees, affiliated hospitals, research institutes, and university partners, the successful candidate will strengthen research capacity, enhance funding competitiveness, foster collaboration, promote research excellence, and support the growth and visibility of Medical Imaging research. This role serves as a central resource and connector across the Department's research ecosystem, supporting research development, strategic planning, performance analytics, partnership development, and scholarly engagement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

- Support the implementation of departmental research priorities, strategic plans, and research growth initiatives.
- Develop and maintain research performance metrics, dashboards, publication tracking systems, and reporting frameworks.
- Coordinate annual research reporting, program reviews, environmental scans, accreditation activities, and strategic assessments.
- Identify funding opportunities and support faculty members in the development of competitive grant and funding applications.
- Facilitate collaboration among faculty, trainees, affiliated research institutes, hospitals, and university research offices.
- Support the development and growth of Medical Imaging research programs, subspecialty research clusters, and interdisciplinary research initiatives.
- Organize and coordinate research showcases, seminars, workshops, research days, and other knowledge-sharing activities.
- Prepare reports,



briefing materials, presentations, and research impact analyses for departmental leadership and stakeholders.
- Collect, analyze, and synthesize research data to inform decision-making, planning, and performance measurement.
- Promote and communicate faculty, trainee, and departmental research achievements through a variety of communication channels.
- Support resident, fellow, graduate student, and trainee research engagement and scholarly development initiatives.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external partners to advance departmental research objectives.
- Support the development of national and international research collaborations, partnership agreements, and exchange opportunities.
- Monitor emerging trends, funding opportunities, and best practices in research development and academic research administration.
- Develop and deliver presentations, workshops, and educational sessions related to departmental research priorities and initiatives.
- Recommend improvements to research processes, systems, and practices to enhance effectiveness, efficiency, and research impact.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Relevant experience supporting research, academic administration, strategic planning, or research development in a post-secondary, healthcare, or research-intensive setting.
- Demonstrated project management and stakeholder engagement experience.
- Experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting on performance and research-related data.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives simultaneously.

Assets

- Experience in academic medicine, health sciences, or research-intensive environments.
- Knowledge of Canadian research funding agencies and grant development processes.
- Experience supporting strategic planning, performance measurement, and reporting initiatives.
- Strong partnership-building and relationship management skills.
- Experience developing research communications, impact reporting,



or knowledge mobilization initiatives.
Experience supporting national or international research collaborations and partnerships.
