Senior Red Hat Integration Engineer – Apache Camel & 3Scale

Position Overview

VStream Labs Inc. is seeking a hands-on integration engineer for a fully remote Canadian contract. You will build modern integration services using Apache Camel and Spring Boot, manage APIs through Red Hat 3Scale, and deploy reliable services on OpenShift. This is a strong opportunity for experienced Java, middleware, API, or platform engineers who have delivered enterprise integration solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Build and enhance Apache Camel routes and Spring Boot microservices.
- Apply integration patterns such as routing, transformation, splitting, aggregation, retries, and error handling.
- Configure and expose APIs through Red Hat 3Scale, including security policies, rate limiting, and versioning.
- Containerize and deploy services to Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes.
- Implement health checks, scaling, logging, monitoring, tracing, and resilience controls.
- Create unit, integration, route, and contract tests.
- Collaborate with Kafka, Azure, application, and platform teams on interfaces and message contracts.

Core Qualifications

- Strong hands-on Java and Spring Boot development experience.
- Practical Apache Camel, Red Hat Fuse, Camel K,



or comparable enterprise-integration experience.
- Experience with API management; Red Hat 3Scale is preferred.
- Experience deploying services on OpenShift or Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, OAuth, Kafka, microservices, CI/CD, and automated testing.
- Understanding of resilience and observability patterns.
- Solid communication and troubleshooting skills.

Additional Assets

- Canadian federal-government or public-sector delivery experience.
- Government of Canada Reliability Status or Secret clearance.
- Experience with Camel Java DSL, Camel Test Kit, Resilience4j, Hawtio, Prometheus, Grafana, or distributed tracing.

Work Arrangement and Compensation

- Contract position.
- Fully remote within Canada.
- CAD $90–$100 per hour plus applicable HST, based on experience and alignment.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Government security clearance will be validated as part of the selection process.
