SENIOR/INTERMEDIATE STAFF ACCOUNTANT – POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join our team. As a successful candidate, you will be working closely with our managers and senior accounting staff. As an approved training office, you will gain the necessary work experience to complete your CPA Qualified Education Program, but also become part of a casual work environment.
For this position, there is an expectation of moderate overtime hours during the busy tax season. There is an opportunity to bank these overtime hours and use them during our more flexible summer months. Your strong technical knowledge of assurance and tax issues will help to ensure that we deliver exceptional client service, and continue to grow our client base.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Performance Expectations
- Participate in the preparation of compilation, review, and audit engagements throughout a variety of industries
- Preparation of associated corporate and personal tax returns
- Identify and raise critical client issues to be addressed with managers and senior accounting staff
- Effective organizational skills demonstrated through managing multiple deadlines and competing tasks
- Ability to analyze and problem solve issues as they arise throughout engagements, and strong attention to detail
Credentials
- Two or more years of relevant public practice accounting experience
- Achieved or working towards your CPA designation
- Strong technical knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE) and Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (ASNPO) would be an asset
- Experience working with, or exposure to, accounting and tax software such as CaseWare, Jazz-it, Profile or TaxCycle, QuickBooks and Simply Accounting
- Strong computer literacy, including effective working skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $55,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
