SharePoint Architect
Location: Toronto, ON

Salary : CAD $100-$120K/ Base + Perks
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced SharePoint Architect to design, govern, and modernize secure, scalable SharePoint and Microsoft 365 solutions. The architect will translate business, security, compliance, integration, and migration requirements into enterprise architecture, technical standards, reusable design patterns, and implementation roadmaps.
The role will provide technical leadership across architecture, modernization, migration, governance, integration, and solution delivery while partnering closely with business, security, engineering, infrastructure, and support teams.
Key Responsibilities
•
Define and maintain target-state architecture for SharePoint Online, SharePoint Server, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, Power Platform, and Microsoft 365 services.
•
Design enterprise information architecture, including site and hub architecture, navigation, taxonomy, metadata, content types, search, permissions, and content lifecycle management.
•
Establish and enforce SharePoint and Microsoft 365 governance, security, and compliance standards covering provisioning, ownership, access, external sharing, retention, records management, DLP, and lifecycle policies.
•
Lead architecture and technical strategy for SharePoint and Microsoft 365 migrations, including on-premises-to-cloud, tenant-to-tenant, file-share, and legacy-platform migrations.
•
Define migration approaches covering discovery, assessment, inventory, remediation, content mapping, migration tooling, validation, reconciliation, cutover, and post-migration stabilization.
•
Design modern SharePoint solutions and integrations using SharePoint Framework (SPFx), Power Platform, Microsoft Graph, REST APIs, PnP PowerShell,
and Azure services.
•
Develop modernization strategies for classic SharePoint sites, legacy workflows, InfoPath/forms, custom solutions, and unsupported integrations.
•
Define reusable architecture patterns, technical standards, reference architectures, and solution frameworks for enterprise delivery.
•
Produce architecture diagrams, technical design documents, architecture decision records, security models, migration strategies, governance standards, and operational runbooks.
•
Lead architecture reviews, proof-of-concepts, technical assessments, design walkthroughs, and technology evaluations.
•
Identify and mitigate technical risks related to security, compliance, performance, scalability, accessibility, availability, and supportability.
•
Collaborate with enterprise architects, business stakeholders, cybersecurity, infrastructure, application teams, vendors, and service-management teams.
•
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to developers, engineers, administrators, and delivery teams.
•
Troubleshoot and resolve complex SharePoint, Microsoft 365, integration, migration, and architecture issues.
Required Technical Skills
•
Advanced hands-on experience with SharePoint Online, SharePoint Server, Microsoft 365, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams.
•
Strong expertise in SharePoint architecture, information architecture, enterprise content management, taxonomy, metadata, search, permissions, and governance.
•
Strong understanding of Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Purview, retention policies, sensitivity labels, DLP, eDiscovery, auditing, records management, and external sharing.
•
Hands-on experience with SharePoint Framework (SPFx), Power Apps, Power Automate, Microsoft Graph API, REST APIs, PnP PowerShell, JavaScript/TypeScript, and React.
•
Experience designing integrations between SharePoint/Microsoft 365 and Azure services, enterprise applications, APIs, and external systems.
•
Strong experience with SharePoint migration assessment, remediation, execution, validation, reconciliation, cutover, and post-migration support.
•
Experience with migration tools such as ShareGate, Microsoft Migration Manager, or equivalent enterprise migration platforms.
•
Knowledge of Azure DevOps or GitHub, CI/CD, source control, Agile delivery, and IT service-management practices.
•
Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 security, compliance, governance, and enterprise architecture principles.
•
Excellent technical documentation, stakeholder communication, architecture review, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
•
Experience leading large-scale SharePoint/Microsoft 365 transformation or modernization programs.
•
Experience developing enterprise governance frameworks and reference architectures.
•
Experience working in large, complex enterprise environments with strong security and compliance requirements.
•
Knowledge of Azure architecture and integration services.
•
Experience with accessibility standards such as WCAG and enterprise supportability requirements.
•
Relevant Microsoft certifications in SharePoint, Microsoft 365, Azure, or Solution Architecture are an asset.
