Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented SolidWorks Draftsman / Purchaser to join our creative engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating precise 3D SolidWorks models, technical schematics, and detailed drawings using SolidWorks and other CAD software. You will also assist with job designs, preparing quotes and managing all aspects of purchasing materials and completing shop drawings.

You will directly communicate with our shop team to ensure the timely completion of all jobs.

Qualifications:

Education:

- SolidWorks, intermediate to advanced skill level;
- AutoCAD, intermediate;

Experience:

- Minimum two years purchasing in a construction/fabrication environment;
- Minimum two-year SolidWorks;
- Working with external suppliers and customers;
- Ability to negotiate product cost savings;
- Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills.

Special Skills/Knowledge:

- Mechanical aptitude, ability to produce, read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings;
- Model SolidWorks parts and produce multiple shop drawings;
- Intermediate level computer skills;
- Experience building a SolidWorks library for internal use;
- Creative problem solver, capable of thinking outside the box and working with a multi-disciplinary team;
- Detail oriented.




- Must have a valid BC Driver’s License and Criminal Record Check.

Responsibilities:

- Produce shop drawings from design models;
- Create and maintain a materials cost list in QuickBooks;
- Purchase all company consumables and job inventory, including inventory management;
- Work with our team to manage workflow and ensure timely delivery of jobs and projects;
- Manage job costs and report actual versus budget;
- Prepare quotes as required;
- Handle incoming customer and vendor queries;
- Work closely with the team towards the company objectives with a willingness to learn and grow;
- Attend job take-off meetings.

Pay: $30.00-$34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
