The Superintendent Assistant supports the Superintendent in maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and overall upkeep of the residential building. The successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day cleaning and maintenance of common areas while ensuring that the building is consistently presented to a high standard.
This position requires strong attention to detail, reliability, professionalism, and the ability to work respectfully around residents, visitors, contractors, and building staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Superintendent with the daily cleaning and upkeep of the residential building.
- Clean and maintain common areas, including lobbies, hallways, elevators, stairwells, amenity areas, garbage rooms, and other designated spaces.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the property, ensuring areas are clean, presentable, and free of debris.
- Assist with garbage and recycling collection and ensure designated waste areas are kept clean and organized.
- Assist with cleaning and maintaining building amenities, such as fitness rooms, party rooms, lounges, and other resident facilities.
- Assist the Superintendent with routine building upkeep and minor maintenance tasks when required.
- Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, damages, or unusual conditions to the Superintendent promptly.
- Assist with preparing common areas for resident events, move-ins, move-outs, inspections, or other building activities.
- Replenish cleaning supplies and maintain an organized supply/storage area.
- Properly use and maintain cleaning equipment, tools, and products.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including the proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the exterior areas of the property when required.
- Maintain professional and courteous communication with residents, guests, contractors,
and building staff.
- Respect residents' privacy and maintain confidentiality regarding building occupants and their personal information.
- Perform other cleaning, maintenance, and building-related duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Property Management.
Resident Service
- Interact with residents and guests in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner.
- Respond to resident requests or concerns appropriately and refer issues to the Superintendent or Property Management when necessary.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Help create a clean, secure, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for residents.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience in residential, condominium, commercial, hotel, or institutional cleaning is an asset.
- Previous experience assisting a building superintendent or property management team is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleaning standards.
- Ability to work independently and follow established cleaning schedules and procedures.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Professional and respectful attitude toward residents and coworkers.
- Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and products.
- Basic knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.
- Ability to perform physically demanding duties, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling for extended periods.
- Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, or holidays when required by the building's operational needs.
Work Environment The Cleaning Superintendent Assistant works primarily within a residential condominium environment and may be required to work in common areas, amenity spaces, service areas, parking areas, garbage rooms, and exterior areas. Pay: $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
