: Provide support and afternoon and/or evening companionship and assistance to a special needs young lady. The job requires someone who is energetic, joyful and loves to have fun. They will take this individual out into the community for social activities such as movies, bowling, dinner, plays, Scandia, YMCA, swimming, music events, hockey games, etc.
Sometimes she likes to stay in and play games or do puzzles. This individual is very social and cheerful. She is very polite, is never aggressive and does not require any meds. She does have some gross motor and fine motor disabilities and has the mental capacity similar to a 4-5 year old, thus needs constant supervision.
She is very small in stature 4'6". She is mobile, but does walk slower .
The job also requires personal care in the evenings such as bath, brush teeth, comb hair, and assist getting her pajamas on.
Individual lives with her commitees (legal guardians), but has her own personal space (bedroom, bathroom ,sitting/activity room).
Work Schedule:
Monday and Wednesday evenings (flexible hours, approximately 6-9 pending on activity) and/or Monday and Wednesday afternoons 3pm to 6pm. Occasional Sunday for a few hours if there is a special activity booked.
Benefits: casual dress, flexible schedule, fuel/mileage expense, all event costs (except food) is provided (hockey tickets, movie pass, swim pass, etc).
Requirements:
- Must have a valid BC drivers license
- Must have a cell phone
- Must have Level one first aid certificate
- Must agree to a criminal record check
- Provide references
- Must have either a Care Aid Certification OR recent experience in working with individuals with special needs
- Must speak fluent English
- Must follow safety plan
Pay: $18.25-$23.00 per hour Expected hours: 6.0 – 15.0 per week
