Job Summary

Love the idea of working where the air is fresh, the views are unreal, and your “commute” includes snow-capped peaks? At Mount Washington Alpine Resort, you can spend your days surrounded by adventure — and get paid for it. As a Host at Ted’s Pub, you’ll create an organized, welcoming arrival experience by greeting guests, managing seating and waitlists, verifying identification, coordinating take-out orders, and sharing information about the pub and resort.

You’ll also help guests learn more about the menu, specials, mountain events, and resort activities. If you’re friendly, organized, and confident, and enjoy helping people, this is a great opportunity to join the Mount Washington Alpine Resort food and beverage team.

Role Responsibilities





- Greeting guests warmly upon arrival and creating a welcoming, professional first impression at Ted’s Pub.
- Checking government-issued identification to ensure guests meet legal age requirements
- Enforcing identification and responsible service requirements professionally and consistently
- Managing the waitlist and seating chart to support balanced server sections and efficient guest flow
- Seating guests promptly and accurately

Taking accurate take-out orders and communicating them to the kitchen promptly
- Coordinating take-out orders and ensuring they are complete and ready for guest pickup
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization at the host stand, entrance, waiting areas, and take-out pickup area
- Assisting guests with questions about the menu, specials, events, mountain activities, and resort departments
- Maintaining strong knowledge of all Mount Washington Alpine Resort events and activities, not only food and beverage offerings
- Communicating effectively with servers, bartenders, expediters, kitchen staff, and managers
- Supporting smooth service flow and assisting the front-of-house team as required
- Operating the POS system accurately and efficiently
- Processing payments and handling cash and card transactions with integrity and attention to detail
- Following all health, safety, sanitation, and responsible service protocols
- Pitching in wherever needed — because teamwork makes the mountain run smoothly
- Upholding high standards of guest service, cleanliness, organization, safety, and professionalism

Resort Conditions





Working at a Winter Resort means no two days are the same — and that's part of the adventure! You’ll get to experience a variety of unique locations, from cozy lodges to scenic mountaintop venues accessible only by chairlift. Be prepared to embrace the elements, whether it's bluebird skies, fresh snowfall, or the infamous coastal rain. Expect to navigate multi-level lodges, steep stairways, and outdoor areas where the terrain can be sloped, snowy, or slippery, so good footwear is essential, indoors and out. Walking through large, icy parking lots is also part of the daily journey. If you love fresh air, stunning views, and a workplace that keeps you on your toes, this is the spot for you!

Qualifications

- Friendly, approachable, and confident when engaging with guests
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable enforcing identification and responsible service requirements
- Strong attention to detail when managing seating, take-out orders, payments, and guest information
- Ability to operate a POS system and handle cash and card transactions accurately
- Previous hospitality or customer service experience is an asset but not required
- Knowledge of mountain activities, events, and resort operations would be an asset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Positive, skilled, and guest-focused attitude

Physical Requirements

- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Comfortable walking, carrying light items, and working in a busy pub environment
- Able to perform frequent reaching, bending, standing, and moving throughout the shift
- Ability to safely move through busy entrances, waiting areas, dining areas, and service stations
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak resort periods
