Total Rewards & HR Operations Specialist
Vancouver, BC | Hybrid (2 days/week in-office) | Full-Time, Permanent | $80,000–$100,000
A newly created role. A rare amount of runway. A team that's ready to invest in you.
We're conducting a confidential search on behalf of a well-established, respected professional organisation here in Vancouver — an organization with a close-knit team of just under 100 people and a 95% retention rate that speaks for itself. They're in the middle of a genuine modernization push, and this role sits right at the centre of it.
This isn't a role you're stepping into to maintain the status quo. It's being built around whoever takes it. You'll take full ownership of payroll, advantages and pension administration, then grow into total rewards and compensation work, and play a lead role in finally activating HR systems that are already paid for and sitting unused — applicant tracking, performance management, and more. Leadership is candid about wanting fresh ideas within your first three to six months, not just steady hands.
What You'll Own
Payroll, Benefits & Pension
You'll manage day-to-day administration of payroll (semi-monthly, via ADP Workforce Now), benefits and pension programs for close to 100 employees — processing earnings, deductions and employee changes, maintaining accurate records, and acting as the go-to contact for questions from the team. You'll also support compliance, audits and process improvements along the way.
Total Rewards & Compensation
You'll help administer and grow the organization's total rewards programs — compensation, pay bands, recognition,
benefits and pension — and take a lead role in developing the job evaluation framework and position descriptions. You'll coordinate the annual compensation review process and prepare the reporting and analysis that shapes it.
HR Systems & Data
You'll be the go-to resource for getting the most out of the organization's HR systems, maintaining data integrity, supporting integrations and upgrades, and finding ways technology can make HR run better.
HR Operations & Projects
You'll maintain confidential employee records, support the employee lifecycle, and partner with HR, Finance and leadership on projects that improve how the organization supports its people.
What You Bring
- 3–5+ years of progressive experience across HR administration, total rewards, compensation, payroll or benefits
- Strong experience administering payroll with an outsourced payroll provider, plus benefits and pension programs
- Solid understanding of Canadian payroll practices and employment standards
- Comfort working with compensation data, salary structures and pay ranges
- Sharp analytical skills — you notice the discrepancy before anyone else does
- Strong Excel and HRIS/HR technology experience
- The judgment and discretion to handle confidential compensation and employee information
- A PCP and/or CHRP designation is an asset, though hands-on expertise matters just as much as the credential
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now
Why This Role
- Real growth, not just a title: this is a newly elevated role with genuine room to grow into compensation and total rewards work over time
- Competitive pay: $80,000–$100,000, based on experience
- 100% employer-paid extended health benefits
- Defined contribution pension: 6% employer base, up to 12% combined with employee matching
- 3 weeks' vacation to start, plus 12 paid personal/sick days annually (unused days carry forward)
- A "9-day fortnight": every second Friday off, just for banking a little extra time through the pay period
- Free, secure underground parking and an on-site gym
- Hybrid flexibility, with real discretion over your in-office days
- A tight-knit team where you'll work side-by-side with HR leadership from day one, in an empowering, autonomy-driven culture
The Process
This search is being conducted confidentially. Interested candidates will go through an initial screening, followed by a detailed interview, before meeting the hiring team directly. All applications and candidate information are handled with full discretion.
Ready to build something? If you're an HR professional who wants more than a transactional role — who wants ownership, growth, and a seat inside an organization that's investing in its people function — we'd love to hear from you.
