CEFA Early Learning is seeking an outstanding, enthusiastic, and dedicated Vice Principal / Educational Coordinator (VP/EC) to join our leadership team at CEFA Surrey – Panorama.
This is a hands-on leadership position ideal for an experienced Early Childhood Educator who is passionate about curriculum excellence, educator mentorship, child development, and creating a warm and engaging environment for children, families, and staff.

The Vice Principal / Educational Coordinator works closely with the Principal and leadership team to support the overall educational quality and daily operations of the centre.
The VP/EC will play a key role in ensuring the successful implementation of the CEFA Curriculum, supporting educators in both Infant/Toddler and Preschool programs, maintaining licensing and safety standards, and providing ongoing mentorship and professional development.
The successful candidate will be a visible and hands-on leader who is comfortable working directly in classrooms, supporting educators, stepping in when needed, and taking an active role in the day-to-day operation of the centre.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum & Educational Leadership — Primary Responsibility
- Oversee the consistent and high-quality implementation of the CEFA Curriculum throughout the centre.
- Support educators with lesson planning, classroom activities, learning documentation, and curriculum execution.
- Regularly observe classrooms and provide constructive feedback, coaching, and support to educators.
- Ensure classroom schedules, routines, and learning experiences are developmentally appropriate and aligned with CEFA philosophy.
- Provide teachers with resources, activity ideas, and strategies to enhance children's learning experiences.
- Identify areas for improvement and work collaboratively with educators to implement effective solutions.
- Support the ongoing development of curriculum practices and educational programming.
- Model best practices in early childhood education through hands-on classroom support.
In-Classroom Responsibilities
- Provide coverage for sick absences, staff breaks, and other classroom needs as required.
- Support Infant/Toddler and Preschool classrooms when additional assistance is needed.
- Mentor and support junior educators through hands-on coaching and guidance.
- Educate and remind educators about safety, licensing requirements, and CEFA policies.
- Monitor classrooms to ensure compliance with licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and centre policies.
- Report licensing, safety, staffing, or classroom concerns to the Principal.
- Assist educators in maintaining positive, nurturing, and engaging learning environments.
Staff Training & Mentorship
- Support the onboarding and orientation of new educators.
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and professional support to staff.
- Lead or assist with staff training and professional development.
- Encourage a positive culture of teamwork, collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Provide constructive feedback and support educators in identifying professional development goals.
- Help educators build confidence and strengthen their classroom practices.
Leadership & Operations
- Support the Principal with the day-to-day operation of the centre.
- Assist with staffing, scheduling, and operational decision-making.
- Manage and coordinate vacation requests and staff scheduling as directed.
- Support the centre in maintaining compliance with BC childcare licensing requirements and CEFA policies.
- Conduct centre tours and assist prospective families with questions about programs and curriculum.
- Assist with program planning and centre initiatives.
- Provide regular updates to the Principal regarding classroom observations, staffing, curriculum, and operational matters.
- Help maintain a secure, organized, professional, and welcoming environment throughout the centre.
Family & Community Engagement
- Build and maintain strong, respectful, and positive relationships with families.
- Support communication with parents regarding children's development, curriculum, classroom experiences, and centre initiatives.
- Conduct tours and provide families with a welcoming introduction to the CEFA program.
- Assist with family events, centre activities, and community initiatives.
- Help create a positive and professional experience for children and families.
Centre Presentation & Events
- Ensure hallway and classroom bulletin boards/displays are updated regularly and reflect current learning experiences.
- Assist with organizing centre events and special occasions.
- Support social media content and updates for special events and centre activities.
- Help ensure the centre maintains a welcoming, organized, and engaging appearance.
Qualifications
- Valid Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certification.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an Early Childhood Educator, preferably in a leadership or senior role.
- Minimum 2 years of management or leadership experience.
- Proven experience working with Infant/Toddler and Preschool-aged children.
- Strong knowledge of BC childcare licensing requirements and early learning best practices.
- Proven experience in curriculum leadership, staff training, coaching, and mentoring.
- In-depth knowledge and experience implementing the CEFA Curriculum is strongly preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Warm, caring, enthusiastic, and positive personality with a genuine passion for working with young children.
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators, leadership, children, and families.
- Mandarin language skills are preferred.
- CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
- Must hold valid BC Government-issued identification.
- Flexibility to work Monday–Friday between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM.
Location & Hours
CEFA Sunnyside
Our centres are open Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Your work schedule will vary within these hours, with advance notice provided.
Work Location: In person
Wage
$28–$30 per hour, depending on education and experience.
